that's funny because it only takes 5 minutes to do the entire job. the tensioner has a reverse threaded bolt on it. put a wrench on it and turn it clockwise and it will release tension so you can pull of the belt.

Gotta do this soon. Subscribing. Anyone have the cost of the belt itself? Go OEM or aftermarket?

Default Gs 300 Serpintine Belt Change

Just as a side note. The tensioner on the GS 300 doesn't have a reverse threaded bolt. Here's how you relieve tension: take a 14mm socket with a large socket wrench and act as if you are tightening the bolt on the tensioner wheel. The leverage action of turning the bolt will make the tensioner twist and relieve the tension. From there remove the belt from the power steering pulley first (it's on the top right of the engine). Take the old belt off, throw it away, route the new belt (on everything but the power steering pulley), release tension again using the same technique, then slide the belt over the power steering pulley. Make sure everything looks to line up well and that you didn't loosen the tensioner wheel bolt in the process and you are good to go.

2004 GX 470 - White
