Default opinoins/diagnosis needed on odd problem

hey guys, yesterday morning when i started my car it idled roughly. when i backed out of my driveway it wasnt smooth like usual, the acceeration was hesitant and somewhat jerky. until the car was completely warm its seems to hesitate when hitting the gas from a complete stop. as i left work last night the same thing happened, and again this morning. the rough idling has got me worried. when driving on the freeway everything is as it should be - just when starting the car does this occur. i am long overdue for an oil change and i know i need to replace my serpantine belt but i doubt these are the issue. car has just under 70k on it - its too young to have any serious issues! any input is appreciated. thanks.

Could also be your A/C signal circuit (Compressor circuit) or your fuel pump control circuit. When was the last time you checked your air filter?

How many miles do you have on your car? If you have more than 100,000 I recommend getting a "Run-Rite" service done, or you can get a fuel injection service done. Definitely need that!

i took my car to a local toyota dealer and was told that the CEL codes were for cylinders 4 and 5 misfiring. the mechanic told me this could be due to bad gas. i ran the old gas out and filled up again and no issues. does this seem like a plausible explanation? ive never had bad gas before, but my car has also never had any mechanical issues. i find it hard to beleive that something like this could just start all of a sudden. one of the biggest reasons for my purchase was the reliablity and toughness of the 2jz.

Some gas stations tend to "mix" their gas tanks. Go to a reliable gas station.

Bad gas can cause all sorts of issues. Especially in our cars with the relatively high compression engines. The very sensitive knock sensor will go crazy and pull timing if it senses any knock. Usually bad gas = knock. And yes...it's bad for the engine. As long as you kept easy on the gas for that tank of gas you should be ok. Try to stick with a name brand gas station in the future.

It varies. I go to a cheap noname place here in NJ and the car runs very nicely off of it. I guess it's hit or miss.

But yea, stories about "mixing" did scare me though...they were cracking down on that over here about a year ago.

Where in NJ are you? If you're close to Iselin, I can give you a couple right off the bat!
