I've been trying to figure something out. I've got a 2000 GS300 Platinum Series with the Nakamichi sound not navi. Page 3 of link #3 (http://www.lexus.com/lexus/query.do?...inum&col=lexus) says that GS300/400 Platinum Series with "SF" code (includes "SE" code = perforated heated seats, black pearl emblems, maple interior, CD changer, power moonroof, mirrors, 7-spoke wheels, yada yada), which is what I have, also includes HID headlamps. But I've got halogen Sylvania bulbs. BTW, I noticed that my headlamps have a pretty distinct cut-off.

Does this mean I can install an HID kit with similar output with GS's that came with HID? Am I going to be getting maddd glare like members who install HID kits on GS's not originally equipped with HID headlamps? If I could get some clarification on this that'd be awesome. Thanks in advance.

A cutoff is a cutoff, doesn't mean you have HID. If your reflectors have halogen bulbs in them, you will get glare with an HID kit.

okee cool. thanks for the info. didn't make too much sense to have "HID headlamps" and have halogen bulbs.

Yeah no problem. Now start researching HID retrofits.

yeah, if u had hid housing i dont think the standard 9006 will fit in there.
