Default Opening fog light lense?

Whats up fellas,
So my fog lights look pretty nasty on the inside, its dirty and has like a brown rust. Is there anyway I can open up the glass lenses to clean them out? I took out the fog lights to check it out but didn't really look like it can. Let me know if its even possible. Thanks!!

You have to bake them just like you would to take apart the headlights.

I tried baking them and they didn't come apart like the headlights. I don't think you can take them apart. You can try to prove me wrong though.

I think fogs have a higher temp glue, may have to leave them in for a few more minutes. The thing is made of glass unlike the headlights.

I agree with flipicanez. Try baking it for an extra 5 or 10 minutes. I think a flat head screwdriver with tape on the end would suffice for more power to pull the glass off.

What about heat gun? I used it for my tail lights and it worked out pretty well

No the foglights don't use temperature sensitive glue like the headlights. It's a high strength silicone adhesive. You have to heat it for a while in the oven and then pry it apart. The adhesive will lose its grip a little once heated up but it will not become gooey and tacky like the headlight adhesive...it stays solid. To remove it will require quite a bit of force too I must add. When you put it all back together, you need to use silicone adhesive to reglue it back.

Sounds like I'm in for some work here but it has to be done. They look so dirty and brown compared to the clear side markers I just put on. How long exactly in the oven and at what temp? thanks in advance

Heat your oven to about 450 for 10 min, then TURN OFF the oven and stick your fogs in there for 10 min then take them out; be careful they will be hot! take a flat tip screwdriver with tape around it and pry apart the glass from the hard plastic housing, taking care not to chip the glass, I found the corners to be the best place to start. Pry from one end to the other then when you have created a big enough gap pry the glass apart, make sure your wearing gloves the glass will remain hot for a few mins. After your done use clear silicone to glue the lense back, if you have one a vice is good way to press the glass lense back on the plastic housing.
There's also a thread posted around here on the subject, try a search as well.

**** mine are the same way and I tried to heat them in the over with no luck. I was worried about melting the plastic backing.

Guess I'll try the oven again Saturday.

Do a search, there's a DIY on here... follow the instructions and it will work like a charm, had to do it to remove my yellow lenses..

Did this myth work for anyone? I'm tempted to bake some fog lights to clean inside
