Thanksgiving Flat Leads to New 18s
Hi, I wanted to share my story with everyone and give some love to the guys from Edge Racing down in Miami. This past Thanksgiving my family and I were driving back to Ohio from Maryland when I got my first flat tire in 20 years of driving. Thank the good Lord above that it happened near the end of our trip and not on I-76. I was able to get the spare on and get back on the road in around 10 minutes, which isn't bad for a first-time flat (I've changed tires before, just not unexpectedly and not on the side of the road). It was time for new tires anyway, so I talked my wife into letting me get new rims as an early Christmas present.
After a week of searching and comparing, I settled on four Enkei Evo 5, 18"s in HyperBlack and four Falken Ziex Ze 912s. I went with the Falkens because they topped the Consumer Report's list for Ultra High Performance All Season tires. I ordered the tire/wheel bundle from Edge Racing because they offered the lowest price. I was skeptical at first to order from the cheapest because I've found over the years that you get what you pay for, but my skepticism proved to be unnecesary. I got a call from Edge Racing a few days after I placed my order wherein they told me that Enkei had mislabeled one of the wheels and it was not the right bolt pattern for my Lexus. I was so grateful that they caught this Enkei mistake BEFORE they shipped my tires to me. Can you only imagine what my frustration level would have been if 3 of the 4 wheels had fit?!? They told me they had to order the 4th from Enkei and it would arrive in a few days. Sure enough, my order was shipped and arrived in great condition. They included a Spline Drive Key which I managed to strip while using my "Size 10 Nike" torque wrench (come one, we've all stomped on the lug wrench!) but I called them, explained the situation, and they overnighted me another key. The wheels are on now and look awesome. Even my wife likes them! So, a special thanks to the helpful guys from Edge Racing!
I will take some pics of my 1999 GS400 Spectra Blue Mica with the HyperBlack rims this weekend and post them for the world to see.
