I'm getting about 220miles to a tank. And thats running it down to dry..yes to where the car stalls out(just a one time test). I just finished my testing today to see where I would run out of gas...heh. So the whole 19 gallons lasts me 220 miles. I also hit boost all over the place and tires spin and such . So thats about 11-12mpg, not too shabby for a hard driven boosted car.

I thought the emission system was required by law to be covered up till like 80k miles? I know that some of you guys here had the catalytic converters replaced before the 80k mark and it was covered. I'm sure the charcoal canister falls under that category as well.

I love in NYC and I'm averaging about 380miles per tank. I'm usually averaging between 19-20mpg. Been in MANY stop n go traffic jams, its almost impossible to not get into a traffic jam in NYC, even on saturdays. Plus I idle often as I do try to spend as much time with my gf in my car cuz the backseat on the gs is so much more comfortable than her squeaky bed =P

Well, I know people have made some great suggestions like don't gun the car, keep the RPM's less than 3K, 2.5K if you can, use the A/C as little as possible, break as little as possible, and check your tire pressure. Another thing that can really affect how many miles you get per tank is the temperature of the gasoline when you purchase it. If you purchase gas when its hot, you will be purchasing less dense gas and, therefore, less gas. You will be paying the same amount, but getting less. Since a gallon it a liquid measurement and has nothing to do with density, you get screwed when you fill up when its hot. I always get my gas at around 6-7 since the gas has had a full night to cool down and hasn't heated in the sun that early in the morning. As I said in the beginning of this thread, I once got 530 miles with one tank of gas. Of course, I am not sure if the GS3 is as efficient as the GS4, which is what I have. Try some of those tips and I am sure your fuel efficiency will improve.

yea emissions are covered up to 80k ...unfortunately i'm at 97k. I did get the extended warranty for 2 years. ($1800) worth every penny by the way but it doesnt cover emissions.

Its a $100 deductible for each visit. I went in to lexus..they gave me a loaner. Replaced two door actuators ..two oxygen sensors and all i paid for $100. Total bill was $1700.

That is pretty good for not going slow.

I w'l like to have those high mileage per tank. My least is 170; the highest: 260... on my GS4 y2000. From this model on they all have 5th gear. So I can't imagine how the years before with only 4th is getting better mileage.
One time I took the mileage and gave me 16.3mpg 60% highway avereaging 70 - 80 mph, driving not too hard.
No offense but I assume they know how to take the Mpg readings because I can't imagine a gs getting so close to a Corolla mpg (32 to 34 mpg)(Edmunds)

I didn't see anyone claiming to get 32 to 34, but I have gotten 27 once. Going 70-80 is what is killing your fuel efficiency. You should also make sure everything else is in tune and filters are clean. Tire pressure can have a lot to do with it as well, along with your A/C useage.

what about the vsc switch, does that kill gas with it off/ sometimes i take it off. i got a gs300 and maybe getting 320 miles on a full 93 tank. i also have 20 inc rims, and i heard that kills gas too. i never use the a.c . heavier rims kills gas too.

Let me also mention, for gas mileage purposes, I was going no more than 55 on the highway just to get up to that number of miles. Yeah, its slow, but it definitely saves on gas. I would never go on a long road trip and go so slow. The time difference for a 20 mile drive between 55 and 80, which is what I normally drive, is not too noticeable. However, when I drive from Jacksonville to Miami, that difference would add hours to the drive - not something worth saving a little gas money.
Are you doing the speed limit.

the first time i filled my take i got about 370 in a 98 GS3 after that les and less.

I'm going 55 on the highway, like I said. I used to go 80-85, but you lose 5% of your fuel efficiency for every 5 mph over 55, so....you're losing one fourth of your fuel efficiency going 80.

Another idea is to clean your MAF and throttle body. Some good DIY write ups in the forum about the topics. I found the throttle response and mpg were very much improved...especially the throttle respose..ahhahahaha
BTW, I always drive in power mode, but seldom use the shifters.

This is true, I cleaned my throttle body, and that gave me 3 or 4 more mpg. I did not clean the MAF, but that will be next. I also restored a FILTHY K&N filter, which may have also contributed to an increase in fuel efficiency.
