Default Whirring noise at 45 MPH

My 99 GS400 has a high pitched whirring noise at 45 MPH, it goes away over or below 45 MPH, anybody know what this might be? Car has 96K on it

What size, brand and model of tire are you running?

Is it cold and snowy where you're located? My GS has a similar sound, but it seems to be only when the snow is packed up in the fender wells and under the car. Never a sound unless these conditions exist.

First off, which part of the car is the noise coming from?

On my 99 GS400 with 80K I found the window channel molding in the door has become worn out.. if I put the window all the way up and drive 40+ miles an hour I hear noise.. if I play with the window switch and lower the window a couple mill some of the noise goes away.. >> I'm planning on purchasing new driver and pass window channel moldings..

On my gs I have a whirring noise around 25 and 60km/h, seems like it's coming from the rear end. No snow is packed under the car but it's about 12 degrees fahrenheit outside.

Default me too

I have a 2003 Gs430 (68k miles) with a similar problem ... whine (coming from the back?) at ~ 35mph only when its cold. The sound goes away after you drive the car for 15 minutes. Opening and closing windows or sunroof does not seem to make a difference or help isolate the source.

So anybody know if it's bearings? Mine's whirring at 5-30kmh, then it just kinda goes to a higher pitch sound, but very faint all the way... I've yet to reach 60+kmh today though.... and I've only drove to and from school, which is about 2 kms...
oh, it's -2'F today and the only thing recently is oil and filter change yesterday, that's about it... haven't notice the noise before...

oh, and it sounds more like tire rubbing instead of metal..... but checked the tires, it's not rubbing on anything.... that I can see

I have the same damn noise that seems to occur A) when the car hasn't fully warmed up, and B) between 15-25mph. I know it's nothing to do with snow since we rarely get it here in Seattle and it happens at all times of the year

I have this exact same problem on my 2000 GS300 with 37,000 km.
Its driving me CRAZY!
Happen's to me around 20km and 60km.

The noise changes pitch between accelerating and coasting.

Im on my winter wheels (GS1 stock 16 inch rims w/ pirelli winter tires)
