Default Help. Need smog for Low Clearnce Car in San Jose California!!!!!!!

I have a car with a body kit and is lowered. To be exact Win kit with Daizen springs, so it sits pretty low. Anyone know someone that will smog lowered cars in San Jose California. I have had this car smogged before, but for some reason no one wants to touch it. Please help me. Looking for a shop near San Jose California.

why wouldn't you be able to get it smog? just curious. i got a smog check today and there was nothing in the process that would be hindered by low ride height.

Great questioned. I don't know. I went three smog shops and they said they do not smog cars with low clearnce are cars with body kits on them. Although, the car is very low it has cleared a in ground smog bay before. Where did you got to get your car smogged? I guess the smog guys are scared of lowered cars.

Do you guys in Cali need to have the car put on a Dyno and all that stuff? Over here in TX that's only require for cars 95 and older. For 96 and up OBD2 cars, they just plug in the diagnostics port and let the computer do all the checks. You pretty much pass if your car isn't throwing a CEL.

Yeah, they just change the smog law about 3 or 4 years ago. Now all cars have to get dynoed. Before they why just hook up some plugs are something to your muffler.

Smog is done on the dyno now here in Cali. Smog techs said they don't do lowered cars because they don't want to damage your undercarriage/body kit and be liable for it. Most smog techs will eyeball your car and then just decline to do it. After your wheels are on the rollers and the machine is activated, the rollers drop or sink down into a bay. I think around the 25mph test, the rear wheels (2GS) do tend to make the rear of the car squat a little bit more under acceleration. I had this problem in my Cobra. Because of the IRS, the exhaust piping was very very low and the fact I was lowered on H&R Supersports, most places didn't even want to attempt it. After going to about 3 or 4 places, there is a smog shop here in Milpitas behind the police station. They allowed me to put the car on the dyno and then lower the rollers. From there, it was at my dicretion whether to proceed. Mapquest "Minnis Circle, Milpitas" for directions. I do not have the exact address. The shop is right next to a Lawn Mower store.

Massachusetts inspection is a joke compared to what they make the other states go through. Mhy Envoy's windshield is tinted 35% and i still passed!
