New 01 GS430 owner got some ?s
Hello all,
I recently purchased an 01' GS430 and love it. I do have some questions though so if any of you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Questions; 1. what is the difference between the ECT/Power mode and ECT button in the neutral position. I know the ECT/Snow make the car start off in like 2nd or 3rd right? but what are the rest of the choices for?
2. what is the best performance mufflers to put on this veh., and should i take off the resonators also, or leave them on. My ideal sound would be as close to an Aston Martin Vanquish as possible, any recom.? besides buying one.
3. Can anyone recommend a top of the line Intake system?
4. What is probably the Number One Performance upgrade i should do to this car to get the best engine performance, exhaust, intake, chip (is there one?), ect.

Welcome. I can only answer your first question. ECT power mode causes the car to shift at higher shift points during hard acceleration than if the button was in the neutral position. I don't think putting the car in ECT power mode makes a difference during normal acceleration. ECT snow mode starts the car out in 2nd gear.

SRT intake is pretty much the best i think...
there is also header upgrade for performance
some ppl upgrade the differential to LSD from the Supra
some do pulley upgrades
some do turbos or superchargers
some do them all...
vanquish is a loud loud car, if u want to achieve that without an electronic valve control, u might not pass air care tests for insurance

EROCK, that was pretty funny.
I have a 2000 GS400 and the SRT intake was the best out there for this car...I think most would agree. Its loud when you want it to be loud and normal under normal driving conditions. But it really opens up the V8 and I love it
The Borla exhaust was a little too much noise for me and chose not to install it.

I searched & lurked for about 6 months before I bought one. I suggest trying the same with the occasional post here and there.

nice ride lexus kid, what is the drop on your current suspension setup, it looks sick. what size wheels and tires, did it effect the ride at all as far as cruisin on the freeway....ect.

SRT intake -about $450. Injen has one not sure of the price maybe $250
Header upgrade- $600
Differential to LSD from the Supra approx$1500
Pulley upgrades- don't know of any made for Gs400/430
Turbos or superchargers $4,000 -$7000 if you can find one.
