I have a 98 GS400. If I find a used key that has the exact same letters and numbers on the back of the key which is:

FCC ID: HYQ1512V
Canada: 1551 102 539
RSS-210
Denso

I should be able to reprogram the remote and make it work with my car right? I know I will have to get another key part and get it cut but the remote part should work right? Does any other lexus car's use the same key codes as the 98 GS? If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks.

P.S. - I tried searching but can never search for the right ones. It always pulls up words from inside the actual thread and not just the thread's title.

 

Yes you could reprogram an exact duplicate key as long as you have the original master key. Without that master key it's a costly trip to the dealership. How to? is a thread here, so practice your searching some more.
