Things You Just Don't Do

I've seen a few posts from members who say that Lexus are classy cars and shouldn't have any mods like lowering done to them. I disagree to that but that's my opinion. But what about other things. I remember a picture someone posted showing a GS towing what I believe was a Uhaul trailer hitch. I guess it's OK to see a Toyota Camry or Avalon pulling one or see one with bike/snowboard racks. Me personally, I've yet to see any of the above. Are these examples of things you "just don't do" only because your driving "Lexus". Share your views and of course examples of things you just don't do.

You just don't get spinners.

ECUgs430 Jan 10, 2007 08:15 PM

You just dont get chrome fender trim, "back off" mud flaps, or curb feelers. Yes, Ive seen all three.

Well I guess these days there are alot of 'stereo' types. Me personally I believe only tasteful mods should be done on more expensive cars. Like mrurmil said spinners are a no no. Would you put them on a S550 AMG, that would look horrible or 14" Daytona Wire wheels on a GS430 would look disgusting. Or for instance installing a triple carbon fiber APR wing on the back of a IS350 or BMW 745i. You just dont do some things to certain cars.

Spinners (the non moving ones) look cool when their on Escalades or trucks and SUVs in general. You can make any mod flow with any car but it has to be tastefully done.

gucci or LV interior? 22" chrome bling bling wheels?

I don't think there is anything wrong with anyone doing anything to their car.
as long as they paid for it and they are feeling it, i believe they have the right to add whatever mod(no matter how weird, ugly, beautiful, nice, disgusting it may seem) they like.
I personally do not like a lot of stuff people do on their cars but it is their car. E.g the same way some think 22's are too big and ugly for a lex( i personally don't like it), a 22's fan could also be saying, these guys rocking 20s and under are not treating their cars nice with the small wheels they have on.
Also in regards to certain things done to the lexus cars which causes others to say, "that mod is to out of place, or weird for a luxury car like lexus", you have to understand "the end of one man's journey could be the beginning of anoher man".
that is to say; for some people, the lex could be an ordinary car to them. a person like Bill Gates would not "necessarily worry about a 100,000 lexus he owns when he can have cars worth half a million as daily drivers.Note, neccessarily in italics cause even some rich/average/poor value every car they own (including yours truly)be it old, ugly, expensive, cheap.
Keep in mind guys, most of the cases i described above are just examples am using to explain that no mod should be described as unworthy or unfit for a certain car. Opinionizing and stressing personal views is okay but saying it shouldn't be done is IMO not anyones' but the owners' call.

To each their own....everyone has their own tastes and prefrences. As long as you're happy with it, then that's all that really matters.

Well I dont really care what others think. Im an avid mountain biker and I sometimes have to carry people in the car.
Sure I could have bought a SUV, but they just dont drive the same nor they are my style. I wouldn't consider my rack as a mod anyway.

I dont discriminate against ricer mods. But if what you put on your car serves as a function for you, then who cares if its classy or not.

i actually like the bike rack.

i like mods or accessories that show personality. like the bike rack - that's a totally utilitarian thing and just isn't something that you expect when you see a car like that.

like having a lexus, a rolex, and... a sponge bob wallet.

YOU JUST DON'T CRASH THE CAR!!!
