Default Need AC Control Unit Removal Procedures...

2003 GS3 W/O Nav

The Front Defrost and Recerculation/Auto/Fresh buttons in my climate control panel get stuck in the down position when pressed, which in turn makes the AC difficult to operate properly without a small screwdriver to pull them back out. There's evidence that ALL the buttons in the top row have been exposed to excessive heat due to some warping, but only the FR Def. and REC/Auto/Fresh buttons stick. It's almost like the previous owner spilled a Coke or something in there!!

So, before going out to buy a replacement unit ($400-$500), I want to take it out and try to clean and repair it myself. But I'm not sure how to gain access to the screws to release the unit. Is there a procedure for what I need to remove first?

And... If I do end up needing a new unit, I wouldn't mind buying a cheaper used part from a salvaged vehicle. Does anyone know of a quality used TOYOTA/LEXUS parts place with access to orginal OE gear?

Any help appriciated!
