Default More....

Here is more info on how he dynoed:

As told by DynoSpot. Having a TQ will not give higher numbers on a dyno. All the dynos were run on my(y2kgs) car. The varying torque numbers might depend on how they ran the dyno. For example, if they did it in auto or in which gear that they tried to do it in.

My car was dynoed on 3rd gear in e-shift. Also you have to make sure that the person who is doing the dyno knows when to hit the gas. On the GS, you put it in 3rd and slowly go to about 3600RPM and than go full throttle until red line which is about 6500RPM. That is how you get the exact dyno reading. Also all the runs were done at the same place and almost at the same temp.

May not be the same for you GS400tx but the same technique was used for all the different runs which includes: Stock, SRT, WR, and WR plus ECU.

Default sounds like we have identified a likely cause of the variation

Considering the torque peak on a GS4 is rated at 4000, and there is no readings on my printout below 4100, its likely the max reading is not being recorded.

It sounds like your 3600 rpm starting point might give a truer reading of torque. However, I don't think the hp rating is accurate using a non- 1 to 1 gear. Normally, using a non- 1 to 1 gear is only done when a speed limiter is hit before the rpm limit in the 1 to 1 gear. (usually related to tires that don't use V ratings or higher)

I guess i might have to try both methods next time

Yup, but here is the funny thing. Your method is what SRT claims to be the accurate way to measure HP. But, you got some pretty decent HP numbers compared to SRT's own stock numbers.

Here is another question to add to the element of mystery surrounding this SRT stock dyno graph. Why would any tuner insist on an HP output that is LOWER than everyone else's results? You would think a tuner is all about pumping up the HP numbers to get as much HP as possible even in stock form right? Shouldn't one mark of a good tuner be to extract as much HP from a stock engine thus proving that they have mastered the fundementals? Almost any discipline requires such a first step before moving on to bigger and better things - a tuner for cars should be no different. HOWEVER, SRT continues to claim that they have THE MOST accurate and true dyno and it's the LOWEST result????

That's one more thing that is boiling in my mind. Once again, I am NOT for or against any one single tuner. I just want STRAIGHT answers or raise the level of quality in performance products. Heck, we pay almost double what domestic or TT or Supra owners have to pay for these simple mods...

this is my thoughts:

i think a tuner that is smart would try to run a less powerfull dyno in a car and then the accurate run on the car with the Advertised part.

I think this because someone who buys it is more likely to go get a dyno AFTER and only AFTER the part is installed and check to see if they got the advertised power, which infact they did, yet the tuner lied about stock numbers to get a higher HP and TQ gain.

Sasha, I think you said exactly what Brent was trying to avoid saying.

Default well, in the hotrodding days of old ..

you first optimized all factory aspects of the car, and then you moved to custom fabrication or aftermarket. This approach would ensure that the output is at it's maximum before any mods were done. And because I think of a tuner today as a just a hotrodder who gets payed, I think that should still apply.

However, with todays new "CLOSED/BLACK BOX" systems, optimization of the unmodified vehicle can be difficult.

So, I can't personally conclude that the initial results were intentionally mis-represented.

That being the case, it makes it extremely important to establish an accurate baseline. Possibly using more than 1 vehicle. Since it seems that the initial ratings for the unmodified SRT car were slightly low, it would be prudent to repeat the same tests on a completely different vehicle (again possibly more than 1) especially for the amount of money involved. But, that's just my opinion.

Yes, I too can't personally conclude that the initial results were intentionally mis-respresented. But SRT continues to maintain that their single dynograph results are ACCURATE. How is that? Where are the standard deviations? How do you explain all the new stock dyno numbers being released now? Are these new numbers an aberration? I mean even you gs400tx have pretty high HP numbers and are closer to a lot of owner's results. But, according to SRT's book your dyno run is inaccurate even though you ran it in 4th gear...Explain that one to me...

Gee...

You know I deal with multi-million dollar vendors on a daily basis for the hospital I work with. I have never encountered a Chief Marketing Manager that treated us like little children that don't know squat. I think that tone of voice you are using in your e-mail can be misconstrued into unprofessional, and impolite manners. I have dealt with Mo before and he is quite professional. If he has hired you to skulk around forums and bully the customers around with your outbursts then I hope he realizes that COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE is 80% of the sale in the united States no matter how good the product is...It is our right as your customers to question the products sold to us. It is your obligation to address our concerns in a professional and courteous manner. I hope everyone reading this thread sees your simple yet effective post.

I am so scared now that I am afraid you are going to threaten me with physical harm...Maybe I should keep my mouth shut before you browbeat us some more.

Guys,

I am interested not in who can flame each other the best but how can the questions the BLiu and others can be answered.

Let's make this a productive Q&A so can a member formulate some reasonable questions that SRT can answer?

This will be interesting.....

Thanks,

Thanks for stepping in MKilty,

I need to chill a bit lest I say something I regret... so for now, I will defer to gs400tx, Lexus Rules or Racing Aristo to formulate the questions objectively...

Sounds like you have something to hide SRT.. so here are some questions: (pretend you are under oath, you know if you are lying we can't know)

1) Were You The GS Fairly Before And After The Intake Using All Of Its Available Power?

2) Have you or have you not lied about any of you performance claims?

3) What is the lowest 0-60 time you have gotten with a GS400 with ONLY HFI?

4) same as above but 1/4 mile

i will think of other questions as they come to me. Mo show yourself and honestly answer these questions. If you are lying which i am not saying you are, then you will probobly lie here to. But at least one person will know for sure.. God. So feel bad if you lie. NO THIS IS NOT A THREAT DONT BAN ME PLEASE!

As everyone loves cars i am asking these questions so we have fair tuners not so that we start a war i want that to be clear. I would ask Y2KGS the same questions if he was here still

These guys have much more knowledge on Dyno's and how they work than I do but the only way I see to solve this little debate is to take a stock car and pick a dyno.. Have SRT and Weapon R present so there is no excuses for either product.. Run a baseline on the stock car then install SRT & ECU run that then on the same car take off the SRT/ECU and run the Weapon R and ECU..

Video tape the event for CL and we will make our conclusions.. As for if this is possible then that is another story on to itself but this is the only way SRT can back up their claims and also Weapon R..

Competition is great but you want to grow a business then you must back your claims up under the same testing conditions.. This is my 2 cents on this debate.. I know nothing like this will happen but I hope I am proven wrong..

All we want for our Lexus is the best at the most competitive price.. Not too much to ask eh??
