I wonder if you have a plugged up drain for the AC condensate. Of course, the AC cabin filter should prevent dirt from getting in...

I have the same thing....I was trying to listen for a high pitch rattle that I thought was coming from the windshield at first, then I pressed down on the cupholder and another rattle stopped. I listened closer and did it again, and found that pressing on the cupholders got rid of another rattle. I guess now the next step is to remove that center console and see whats underneath causing the rattle.

i replaced my cupholders with one from an 02 gs n the cupholder rattles went away!!

It's just the coolant flowing to and from the heater core...maybe you are low on coolant or there's an air bubble in the system. Or its just normal
