Unhappy Car starting problems AGAIN!!

Ok now i havent posted this but this is the problem that has been going on for like 3-4weeks now.

When i get into my car sometimes and try to start it and starts and then dies back down right away, All the dash lights come on and there have even been a few times where i have actually put the car in gear thinking it was on and the car would roll before i realized the car had shut down.

The trick i have to do is turn the key 3 or 4 times (not turn it over, just turn it) and then try to start it before it comes on WHY is this happening??

Now my engine light is on but when hooked up to the computer it says its the O2 sensor. I heard it can be my fuel pump or fuel something that might be starting to go and thats why i have to turn my key a few times to kinda prime it. Sometimes even that doesnt work and i have to wait like 5 mins to try and restart...

Any one can help???

Thanks,
Kia

Sounds like your fuel pump is going.

KIA- just curious-since your dad is a mechanic, do you ask him to try to diagnose your car, or just rely on all of us guys helping out the "poor girl" and then tell him you figured it out?

just playin-peace

LOL.....No i dont play possum with you guys then act like i figured it out with him..lol that was a good idea though. Naw he is always so busy so i try to kinda find out from the "Lexperts" before i have to bother him so when i do he can go right to the source. Just because im a mechanics daughter doesnt mean i get special attention he makes my butt wait like everone else.

He is the one that hooked the machine thingy to it and found out it was the O2 when my engine light first came on, but i didnt have him recheck it since then. He is the one that said "get ready for a new fuel pump" so i was just double checking you guys......

Whats a "Poor" woman to do???......

Hey kia. Thought you sold the car Have you ever had a proffesional fuel injection cleaning done on that car? Try it and that may solve the cold start up problem

do you have any mods done to the engine? how long will the car stay on before it dies down? from my experience with mitsu's, this sounds like a clogged fuel line or a fuel pump going bad.

My wife had the exact same thing happen to her 4Runner a while back. The problem was the starter was going. Everything kosher since replaced.

I would try changing ur fuel filter first, that could be clogged. Or else, The fuel pump.
