no one has the right to give true definition and in fact i have yet to find an "official" definition of vip of any kinda. to most of us, vip is nothing more than a vague idea of what type of cars and how they are modified. i can give you MY definition and categories but that's just another data point.

Anyone watch Grip Video? I forget which volume. Anyways, Grip Video interviewed (w translator) the head honcho of Junction Produce at the Tokyo Auto Salon show....and asked him stuff like...."What is VIP? Who was the first to introduce it? What cars are VIP? Explain the VIP style? etc....."
Very good video...esp coming from the JP man himself.

This subject has been beaten down to a pulp. The way I see it is, there is no way to define since there is no real authority on the matter. I had a brief discussion with one of the photographers from VIPStyle magazine and I got the sense that they are trying to define "US VIP style" themselves, since there are really not that many Japanese VIP styled cars in the US.

I spoke to a couple of friends that do custom mods ( body kits). They refered me to a guy that customizes whatever I want at a reasonable price. I can mod a vip style lip kit for cheap ( plastic molded not fiberglass) Do you guys think I should do it.

It's true that it's slammed on air-runners, isn't it?
It's true that MOST have the widebody for the huuuuge lips for the wheels........???
I think that's just about the starting point when modding for VIP.

its funny that some people will argue for the need to pay more to mod their car because they're driving a lexus but then haggle for the cheapest price in the classfieds.
