Does anyone, know when the GS 300/430 is going to be remodeled? Autoweek says 2004 but Motortrend says 2003.

they are both correct.

a brand new 3rd gen GS will debut ~october of 2003 as a 2004 model. this is like the current gs arrived in sept. of 1997 as 98 model.

lex is waiting to see what's behind the curtain on the next e-class, and 5-series that are due out in late 2002 as a 03 model. when the GS arrives in 03/04, it will kick some serious b**t again.

hamburg, we have another problem

I was considering getting a 2001 GS3 towards the end of the year around maybe September or October. I was hesitant at first because I thought a new model might be coming out the end of next year. But thanks for the info gs4will.

The only thing is that I'm not too fond of the back lights. I think I liked the back lights better on previous year models. Does anyone else feel the same way? I was also wondering how much people have paid for a GS3 this year. If some people could give me an idea on how much they've paid it'd be much appreciated, esp if they're from the bay area, or california in general.

I agree with you, but it seems like we're in the minority. I think the 01 lights have too large a red patch. I expect if you get a 2001 GS though, you'll be able to swap out the lights with someone who has a 98-00 GS (I think a 98-00 owner will need a new wiring harness to use the 01 lights, so presumably the same would be true for an 01 wanting to use the 98-00 lights).

Compared to new model taillight, the previous pre 2000 taillight seems outdated. Especially when you see it at nite.. A lot of people i know of don't like the new taillight first, but as they cruize with me more, eventually they have to swap on the new one as well. Give it sometime, I am sure you will luv the new taillight. 430 i think is the major change compared to 300 from 98 to 01. 300's engine stays the same while the next generation v8 3UZ-FE debuts on GS430. so if you the 300, pre 2000 is as good as the new 01 model.
