Another way to reset ECU without removing battery or pulling fuse.

I got this benzworld. It says all drive by wire vehicles, so lets see if this works.

"Throttle Body Adjustment. They say this works on all drive by wire vehicles and resets parameters WITHOUT Having to disconnect battery!

The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving
style. Do a TBA Throttle body adaptation.

1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.

2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter
turns over.

3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.

4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back
to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas
pedal.

5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment.

6. Drive the car as you always do.

Depending on your driving style, this may or may not be a big factor. I do a lot of city driving so
I noticed a big change after erasing my history. It is not hard to do this, just follow the instructions -

Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2
minutes.

Keep the key in for the entire thing. "

I for got to mention this ..When we test drove the IS 350 in NY

I was speaking to one of the Lexus peoples and he said there was no need to reset or pull

anything . He had said all you need to do is drive around for like20 minutes but really get on it and that will "fix" it also :)

Interesting. What obvious differences did you notice?

Have either one of you tried either one of these methods for yourself?

I tried it last night... it works well. The car had more oomph without depressing the pedal as far... I'd imagine doing this once every few weeks would make the car have that new car zing, although it will ruin fuel economy. I would recommend this for anyone loking to sell their car, as it would provide more thrill to the buyer.

Yknow i've had my SC400 for 3 years and it still manages to thrill me all the time :D

It would only ruin gas economy, though, if you drive hard, right?

From what I was told, that would be correct. You would have to really get on it to increase fuel consumption. But, if you know it's there and can feel it easily...yeah you're going to get on it.

Also, even if you select the PWR ECT it only changes the shifting points and stretches the gears out and doesn't use more gas. Again it mental, if you know and feels it's there.

I may give it a try, but I would really like to hear from some more people who have tried this. It's one of those things where if you do it, there's no turning back (well, at least not for a while).

Once an ecu resets itself, it generally revert back within a week or so. It's not long term by any means...

This thread is worth a bump after I did my BFI mod. Tried this method to reset the computer and instantly noticed a little stronger low end pull.
