Keyless Entry won't work...
 

I just bought my first Lexus, a 99 GS 300 and I am pumped! However, the keyless entry does not work. I just put a new battery in it. What could it be? Thanks!

when you press the buttons does it beep at all?

and when you said it doesn't work, nothing works at all, or just some functions?

It does not beep at all. The red light on the key does come on however.

seems like the antenna system (or alarm system) on the car itself is defective?

is it possible that it's a replacement key that was coded for the immobilizer, but not for everything else? :uh:

I was searching for a thread on this. My 1998 GS 300 that I have had for years just started this B.S. It would work half the time then replaced the battery 2 months ago and had the same result. In the past week it wont unlock anything. The red light on the key does work however. It worked great 2 years ago then gradually got worse and not working at all now. Let me know if anybody has a solution or experienced this.

hmmm. i just started a thread related to this problem. the range of my keyless entry is about 4 feet from the car.

Check on the reciever box and antenna in your car. Something in there might of come loose. Its the body panel closest to where the rear right passenger headrest is. Called a C-Pillar? Correct me if im wrong. The reciever is hidden in that panel.

Try to put your key right up next to it and see if it the alarm beeps. If it does, then its probably the antenna (reciever in car) that got disconnected causing a severe reduction in range. If it doesn't then it might be your key, or the reciever is blown.

I just started having this same problem. Exactly the way it is worded here. The only diffrence is that I just had my keys redone. I lost one in the summer and had to buy a new one. For fear that I lost it in the street near my girls house in Ny, I cancelled the other keys and started everything from scratch. Everything worked fine for months and now, suddenly It just won't do anything. I also notice that sometime when I lock and unlock the door manually the windows and sunroof open up automaticlly. Very strange.
