headlight guru's
I am curious about cleaning my headlights up and maybe painting the insides black. Is flat colors better than gloss? Also how much would someone charge for doing this mod, if someone mailed headlights to you? I like the reg look, but update it some. My car is going under the knife soon for a few weeks. Any ideas guys

i would do it for you for free but i rather not work on someone else's stuff cause i dont wanna mess it up.

haha
so you think you would mess up? How many days you do your's in? A single day job if started early?

I think that it's possible to do this in a day...Just do this....
Friday night...take the lights out...bake them for 15 minutes under 250 degrees...and take them apart. then you can take them apart and paint them and let the paint set over night. In the morning, reassemble the light pre heat the oven and put the 2 peices in for 15 minutes. After that take them out and fit them together...your probably gonna need to get a pillow and sit on them for about 1/2 hour....LOL Than your done |
tools for the work
putty knife? drimmel? Do I need anything other than paint and jb weld  sorry for the questions

No you dont need any jb weld, Preheay your oven to 275 degrees then put the headlight in there one at a time for 10-15 mins you can pull it apart at about 13 at 15 much easyer. Once its apart use steel wool and remove the chrome coating so that your paint can attach its self better and not bleed when you paint it. Once its all bare and im assuming your going to use spray paint from a can then shake it real well and keep shaking it, apply light even coats, more light coats is better then a few heavy coats. Once its all done put only the headlight housing in the oven with the same temp for about 5 mins, take the lense and rip of any large pieces of glue that might have assembled on the edges and use goo-gone if you got any hot glue on the lense its self ( it will come right of with goo-gone ). After 5 mins remove the housing and quicly install the painted bazel, screw it in the middle and carifully put the lense over and press it tight on all edges so it sits deep. Oh make sure to let the paint dry for about 2 days before you seal it all up.

to me i will paint it flat color, i think it looks better. shiny paint makes it kinda weird looking somehow
