ashtray won't close, anyone have this problem?
 

looks like my ashtray won't close, but i cna't reallytell how it's supposed to, i don't see a clip or magnet or whatever, any help?

I had this problem ( Well I thought I did), just push on the top of the ashtray when you are closing it, sometimes it needs a good push, it will close, well mine did anyway. It closes every time, just have to put a little push into it.

i beleive the locking mechanism is inside of the ashtray, if you want you can pull it out and take a look

I was having the same problem, and was able to fix it. The previous owner had spilled some spare change, as well as a bic pen down there. I was able to fish them out, and the thing opens and closes like a charm.

i took the assembly out and unscrewed the 4 screws keeping it on but i can't separate it ( i dunno if itll come part anyways). the mechanism looks like a plastic toggle taht catches when the tray is pushed in but mine's not catching against it or something.

argh! guess i'll just put some gauges there or something ;p

that might not be a bad idea at all, what a good incentive :)
