2002 GS 300 brake light went out....need some info
Alright I have previously owned a is300 and currently own a rx300 and m3. So aside from the bmw always been faithful to lexus
my fathers ride however is a gs300. Now when changing bulbs in my is300 or rx 300 outer tails i always removed the tabs and then was able to use a philips head screw driver to remove the screws. However, for my fathers car this is not working. The screws are not coming out at all. They just wont seem to budge. I shouldnt have to break a sweat lol to change a bulb.
I even called lexus and they told me the taillight should not be removed and that I should be removing the inner carpet then changing the brake light bulb. I removed the carpet but it seems if I pull on the wires housing the bulb that it will rip. I really feel stupid having to post this especially as a first post. I am just going a bit nuts here and did not think this should be an issue.
any advice would be great
its a 2002 gs300 sport design GGP by the way

Replacing the bulbs in the tails are pretty simple.
First remove the 2 plastic round tabs from the trunk carpet lining direct behind the tail lights.....then you need a socket (i dont recall the exact size...maybe 8mm?) to remove the 2 bolts that holds the tails to the car.....once the bolts are off....pull out the entire tail light housing slowly away from the car
You will now be able to replace the bulbs in question.
Good luck.

Yep, if it's under warranty dealer will do it for free (did for me at least).
Getting the lights out should be very similar to doing a taillight swap for the older 98 - 00 GS to the new style. Here are some instructions that should help
