Default Dead zone in brake pedal

Hey all,
I just installed LS400 brake calipers in the front and now the brake pedal have a dead zone about 1cm or about 7/16in on the very top. The car stops just fine and the pedal feels firm, but I am not sure if the dead zone was there in the begining or if I just didnt noticed it before.
Is this normal or should the pedal bite at the very top ?

I think most cars I've driven have a small amount of dead area before the brakes bite. I think what you are describing is normal. Its probably there so you can cover the brake pedal without engaging the brakes as a defensive driving move.

I have never noticed a dead zone like this? Did you clean and grease the slide pins when you did the caliper swap? You could also have some air still trapped in the system somewhere. It wouldn't hurt to bleed the brakes again. Even just a little air will rob the brakes of stopping power, which would mean your brake up grade isn't living up to it's potential.
