Center console lid won't close
First off, I will say that I've been searching both ClubLexus and just Google in general and haven't found any info. Most searches I've done keep coming back to the cup holder lid and not the center console lid.
My son's 2001 GS300 center console won't latch close and keeps popping open. I have a '05 LS430 and when that happens on it you have to remove the lid and tighten up the screws holding the lid. I'm wondering if it's the same kind of thing for the GS but I'm not finding any info about it. Anyone have a link on how to address the issue? |
Just going off top but I am pretty sure when I wanted to fix mine, I watched a video and the guy did what you're describing for your LS430. I have the same issue and never fixed it :D

You might have to remove the wood trim around the shifter or you might just need to pop up the back of it.
Then Two bolts in the bottom of the arm reset. The bottom comes up, then you’ll see the loose bolts holding the arm rest. Check the connection between the arm rest and the hinge too. I doubt they are loose, but if you need to tighten them it’s much easier with the armrest out. You could also replace the leather cover now. |
I had a similar issue after the leather shop recovered mine. They removed the little round rubber rests it sits on. Now mine closes. Did not really care about those bumpers.

There is always 3M velcro strips or thin magnets if you find a clean way to put them on.
