Default How do I know if my shocks/struts are worn out?

My car seems to ride a bit ruff over bumps. But this is how the car drove before I brought the car so Im not sure how the car is suppose to really ride..

Whats the easiest way to tell if my shocks/strut or springs are worn out??

The easiest and least scientific why is the "Jump on the car and see how many times it bounces" test. The car should not bounce more than two/three times after you push the bumpers up and down. I bet you've seen cars with broken shocks before but haven't noticed it, a car will bounce 5-6 times after going through a dip.

Besides the uncomfortable ride, is there a hazard in driving with worn out struts? (just wonderin).

Nothing keeps the springs in check and your car just lurches front-back front-back when you hit the brakes. Drove a U-haul like this and it is scary.

Your car also won't handle as well because it will be leaning to the side because of the worn shocks.
