Gen2 drivetrain in a Gen1 Aristo
Hi, I'm fairly new to this site. I've already googled and haven't really found the advice I'm looking for. I'm thinking about buying a running or wrecked and running gen2. What do you think? I love the way my Gen1 looks and I want it as my daily driver..
Thanks in advance...

The car looks great!!! There may not be much info about swapping the Gen2 drive train because most people swap to the turbo but that would be an inexpensive swap and I can't imagine be a difficult swap.

Thanks
Thanks, My initial thoughts were to put another 2jz turbo back in it, which is what my buddy had in it with a built tranny to hold 1200hp, but I'll probably just buy a gen2 and make it a project with my friend who has some experience with engine installs and he has a engine hoist. Anymore tips would be helpful.. Thanks

I'm not sure what your question is because they all use the same 2JZ engines but if you want to get a 2JZ-GTE engine in your 1st gen, the JZS147 Aristo 2JZ-GTE engines are the cheapest and most plentiful. Maybe you're asking how to do a VVTI 2JZ-GTE? I wouldnt try swapping a 2JZ-GE from a 2nd gen LS300 into your 1st gen LS300. They would be essentially the same engine except for the VVTI. If you're just looking for the VVTI, you would just swap the cylinder head but of course you'e need to swap the entire wiring harness, ECM, possibly fuse box etc. At that point, it might be easier to just go with a standalone engine management system. Either way, thats a lot of trouble to gain a little bit of mid-range power. You're doing almost all the work of an engine swap without the power gains.
