Anyone tried to fit gs2 radio unit to gs1?

I haven't personally tried to installed a 2nd Gen radio in a 1st Gen put I have seen both radios side by side and it doesn't look like a simple swap but anything is possible with time and money. I think it would be a lot easier to go with an aftermarket unit. An aftermarket until will be easier to installed and probably have more features.
