AC Light
My AC (Air Conditioner) light is blinking, what does this mean? I think it means i need some more refrigerant, esp since my AC isn't getting cool anymore. However i am not sure if my car has been retrofitted for the new 134 or is it just using Freon. I have a can of 134 and and the line that attaches to it but the fitting on the car is bigger. an adaptor would work but it doesnt look like the fitting comes off. This is the one located in front of the radiator, behind the grill when you open the hood right? With a cap on it with the letter "H" on it. Well, to make a long story short how do i put in some more refrigerant to get the AC going again please?
Sovero1 was nice enough to post some pages from his book a while back for someone else. It has a lot of info about the A/C system but might not answer your question...sorry I don't know.

Pianoman72.... it's the Air Compressor i had it checked Friday after i made sure that the solor sensor wasn't defective. So i will be buying a new Air Compressor and Receiver/Dryer this week It lasted a long time though, i figured it would break soon.. it was the only accessory component on my motor that i hadn't replaced.
Okay everyone it was my Air Compressor that went out, I ordered a new one and put it on today. But first let me tell you how Firestone tried to rip me off. I was riding by and decided at the spur of the moment to have them check the AC system to see what was wrong they did a "Perfomance Check" which they charged me $30. This is to diagnosis the system. They stated that the AC Compressor was gone (true) and that i need to replace the Receiver/Dryer when i replaced the compressor (true), but they said the pulley on the AC was about to come off and that if i didnt do it now or soon that i would end up stranded (LIE). Supposedly they called the dealer the price for the compressor was $1100 (LIE), and it had to be ordered so they called a couple of other sources. Finally they quoted a price from NAPA Auto Parts for $760(LIE) for the compressor and $99(LIE) for the receiver dryer. My total labor and parts was to be $1188.00
I never had intentions on them doing the work anyway so i said "Whew, i don't have that kind of money" and left. I called NAPA myself and the compressor was $474 and the Receiver/Dryer was $50.. This is a difference of $335
They also stated my system was running R12(LIE) when it actually is running R134a. The charge for refilling the system, vacuum lines etc was $129 along with 3 hours of labor at $60 each.
I ordered the part from Advance Auto Parts (they sell good stuff and lots of availabilty for Lexus) got the part in 1day for $388 for the compressor and $52 for the receiver/dryer. A can of oil/refrigerant and 2 cans of R134a and i was in business for less than $550 including misc. i talked the guys into giving me the R134 and oil for free.
I plan to call Firestone corporate office tmw. to complain and get my $30 back. If they treat everyone like this i am sure i will be part of a class action suit in the future.

Friend of mine almost died because firestone sent him on his way WITH A FUEL LEAK after a carb repair on his camaro. That's something professional mechanics just don't do.
Glad to hear you got your AC working again (or will after you get the parts).
