Our '93 Lexus GS300 sat for the winter, we started it up once a month and charged up the battery periodically. The electrical stuff wasn't working (lights, power windows etc) but the car was running.
At one point in putting the battery back into the car my husband touched something and there was a spark - he can't remember if this was before or after the electrical stopped working. We could see the alternator fuse was blown and replaced that (thanks to someone here for the directions - that was quite a job!) along with another fuse that was blown.
Now the car won't start at all. It was running fine before we changed the fuse. Turn the key and nothing, does not turn over, no click, nothing. We've rechecked all the fuses and rechecked the battery connections. Tried to jump start it and still nothing. Wondered if it might have something to do with the security system. I read on this site you can check that by locking/unlocking the driver's side door a few times with the key. But another problem there as I haven't been able to use the key in the drivers side lock for a year, always unlocked the car from the passenger side and with the car not running I can't try to lock/unlock with the button inside. The key goes in but won't turn. My fob broke so I just have a plain key.
And suggestions where to start?

forgot to also mention in putting the alternator fuse back in we stripped one of the screws holding it into the fuse box and have left this out - don't think this should matter? Couldn't find one locally but could order one if it's necessary.
