Default Battery light wont go off after replacing alternator pigtail and alternator.

Okay so alternator went out in my car I have a 1993 Lexus gs300.Okay so we replaced the alternator and then discovered that the alternator plug aka pigtail was brittle and melted so we replace that with one out of a junk yard and now the battery light will not go off we rewired the pigtail a different way and the battery light wont come on so I need to figure out what is causing the battery light to stay on all the all time and yes the battery is good and all the connections are strong any help would be appreciated

I think my car might need a new alternator after the problems I had with it today. I bought it a little over a year ago and it has given me nothing but problems. Very disappointed in its lack of reliability and downtime. Had an Acura MDX that I took to 240,000 miles than was never disabled or had to be towed for an alternator, water pump, etc. Won't be buying this car again.

You get that the car is old as hell, right?

Yeah I'm thinking I'd probably need a water pump and alternator etc if I was 26 years old too!

When I bought mine (with 150k miles) the very thing I did was change the water pump and the timing belt. Like the first weekend after I bought it. I've owned it almost a year and I've replaced the alternator once. When I pulled the timing belt off it looked like it might not even have 10k miles on it but I didn't know so better safe than sorry. At that point it was already off and I knew I'd feel much better having done it and knowing when it was last done.

The **** under the hood gets hot and after 23 years my 1GS3 needs some TLC but she's a fuggin awesome car and has way way way more life left in her than most other 23 year old cars! I guarantee that.
