1993 GS300 Speaker Sizes
Can anyone help me with this? I am renewing my entire sound system in my car and would like to know the following...
Size of stock speakers in the front doors.
Size of tweeters in the front doors.
Size of stock speakers in the rear doors.
Size of subwoofer on the deck behind rear seat.
I also would love to know if the after market speakers im putting in have to be the same size as the original stock ones or if there is room to go a tad bigger.

Thank you for directing me to that thread. What about my last Q though? Can I fit a bigger speaker in the stock housing then the 4 3/4 speakers it comes with?

Chances are it is possible. I just rewired my entire system and noticed mine are going out. I'm going to run all new wiring since my factory harness was hacked, CD changer removed, and amps destroyed.

I want to take the door panels off, put in new speakers then put panels back on so it all looks stock but I dont wanna modify the speaker housing for a bigger speaker. I think im just gonna do aftermarket high end speakers in factory size. 4 5 inch speakers, 2 tweeters and the 12 inch on deck lid plus a 12 in the trunk with pioneers flip up head unit. All speakers, subs, amps and wiring will be Earthquake brand.

You can easily trim the front "boxes" for 5.25"
I did 5.25" front and 4" rear and it sounds great. I ran Focal all around so that may be part of it. You can trim the rear but its a tad tighter fit.

My 2 cents...... I love the setup in my car, just run 4" speakers all the way around (4 total). I bought Polk audio db 401s, they were inexpensive. I forget exactly how much, but I know I got them off amazon for around $69 pair. I advise against cutting into the paneling or altering things to make larger speakers fit, just buy good 4 inch speakers with a solid amp.if that's not enough you can add tweaeters in the door in those small holes on each door. I did that and it sounds incredible and fit flush. If you need more then that add 6x9s up near the rear windshield

If you cut the speaker boxes it has nothing to do with the door panel nor do you have to modify anything to fit it. If you want to add tweeters do it in the stock location. I don't recommend plugging the port off the rear of the speaker. Larger speakers will always have more frequency range which is one area the GS is lacking.

Can I completely remove all the factory amps since I will be installing new amps for my new mids, highs and tweets? No point in keeping in the dead weight if im not using them. Where are they located???

Yes you can. If its like mine its in the rear driver side of the trunk under the CD changer. It will eliminate your CD changer as well. Its all mounted to a bracket system. I used the stock wires and wired my amp up in the trunk. The wires are a tad small gauge but still sounds great and mostly OE fit. Looks stack and pretty easy to reverse it.
