Default Help me from freezing.

Please help me. I have been searching for a while now with not much findings. Getting cold out and need my heat working.

There is one spot on the firewall that is open and a plug on the bottom pipe. Simple run from one to the other?

This is the other spot. Has this guy on it.

Btw the main pipe in the first picture goes from the silver pipe to the back of the head. Please, any help will be appreciated.

for some reason it looks like your heater core has been disconnected(first picture), the item in your second picture is the heater control valve. if you google it you should be able to find some diagrams on the routing. basically you need to have a flow of hot coolant out of the cooling system into the core, out of the core, through the valve and back to the cooling system. Should be a simple repair unless it was disconnected due to issues with one or both of those items(ie the heater core leaks or is plugged, or the heater control valve is broken/leaking)

There's probably a reason why the heater core is bypassed. More than likely it's leaking.

Don't know until I check. Got the car from someone in Florida and I am hoping since that and the fact it is swapped they just didn't hook it up.

Ahh, now that makes sense!

I think you may have just dodged a bullet! Let us know how it goes! Hoping for the best.

It looks like you are missing the bracket for your Heater Control valve. It mounts on to the firewall to hold the unit in place while the cable attached opens and closes the valve.

I just bought a new one and I might have an extra if I can find it. Just let me know.

I just looked at it again today. Seems the heater control valve is broken. Question is would I need to get a gs one or aristo one? Or would either or work? Anyone have an extra? Thanks for the help guys.

I would just By-Pass it for now using an idea I found on another post here. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and tell them you are wanting a 90 degree 3/4 " PEX fitting. I believe they are brass. Use hose clamps to put it in place of the valve.

That will give you a few months to find a new one. You only need it in the summer to bypass the heater core for colder air.

yukkerz the gs one should mount properly to your vehicle as long as you have the proper brackets still since your car is a gs and not an aristo.... as for what ClarkKent mentioned, that trick will work great as a temp fix, used to do that with my Cressida cause they have the same issue of failing and leaking... it may actually be cheaper to buy the fitting from an auto parts store since it will be plastic, I know I only ever paid a 1-2 dollars for them. if connected properly your car will be in permanent hot air mode since it will not restrict flow through the heatercore, works great in the winter but summer gets a bit nasty when you can't stop the heat lol. lexus will have the control valve you need, I think I paid around $100 for mine from Toyota, that being said parts in Canada are hella pricey.... good luck and let me know if you have any other questions
