Default Alternator Getting No Power

Im trying to help my firend figure out what is going on with his 94 Lexus Gs300. He got his alternator replaced because it stopped working and it was killing his battery. He took it to someone to put a remanufactured alternator in.Here is what the car is doing,The dash lights will not come on when you turn the key to accessory position, but when you crank the car the dash lights come on.The alarm which is a aftermarket one will not work at all but it chirps when the car cranks. The door locks only work manually. I also just found out the the alternator is not getting a charge. i checked all the fuse all where good but there is no charge going to the dash and door locks under the dash fuse box. i will be taking out the alternator today but i was wondering if this sounds like it could be something other than that. I was think that the car is running off the battery since the alternator doesnt work and there is not enough power to run the dash and door locks. Please Anyone who can help let me know

How can you tell that the alternator isn't charging the battery? If everything works but the dash take the fuseboxnapart (the one by the pedals) and check all the wiring, this happened to me because of the PO's lack of intelligence. Also take the cluster apart and make sure there isn't any pieces of wire bouncing around shorting stuff. Check your dome light fuse under the hood and every single one by the pedals, shouldn't be anything TOO serious

We took the car to advanced and they said the alternator wasn't holding a charge she said it did start doing this stuff until he got the alternator replaced.the alarm doesn't work at all. Just get a chirp when you crank it.The door locks have no power you can only unlock them with the key. Thanks for you help also.

Are you guys making sure the distributor is not leaking oil onto the alternator? You can change and/or rebuild it 100 times, but if its leaking you will have the same issue.

This is the issue it's notthe alternator so its eletricial. He told me that the 30 fuse was replaced with a 50 fuse and everything start working when he tried to close the sunroof everything stopped working and now the sunroof is open... I'm thinking this could be a ecu issue or a short to the ecu.
