2JZGTE Swap Question
Ok its a pretty simple question for those that have done it before I'm getting ready or at least I think I'm ready to do a VVTI GTE swap on my 96 gs3 my question is for right now I only want it to be a stock gte motor and adjust the boost a little bit more like around 17 psi if its possible
What parts do I need so far I only have my intercooler and HKS BOV for the sound.....do I really need gauges or a boost controller or anything else for that matter since it'll be stock while i work on the rest of my car
any info would be appreciated thanks ahead of time.....

+1 Im going VVTI also. Theres a page about raising the boost w/o adding parts. Look up TTC mod. "True Twin Conversion". It changes the sequential turbo setup and allows both to run at the same time and opens up the door for higher boost levels. But dont exceed 18 psi. If I can find the link, Ill post the info for future fellow 2JZ-GTE VVT-I swaps. Good luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Is there any guides on swapping a vvti in the 1st gen gs? I briefly searched but no results.
Ive been trying to source a non vvti motor for the last 3 months with no luck, but vvti swaps are dime a dozen.

Ive been searching also. It seems that VVT-I swaps are popular with the 2gen GS and first gen IS. I guess its time for a guide for that swap. I actually came across a non-VVT-I motor in canada but before I could actually make the transaction, I ran into a VVT-I locally w/tranny for the same price minus canadas $400 shipping. Ill warn you though, dont go VVT-I if you plan on becoming part of the +500hp club. The tuning gets difficult with the valve timing technology getting in the way.
