Default Should I buy? 94 GS3

What's up GS guys/gals!

A guy around the corner from my house has a 94 GS300. Car is pretty clean overall. Not sure of the miles, but I'll find out tomorrow. They said the car will start and run for about 15-30 seconds then shut off. They said it needs an ecu. They are asking $1000 OBo for it. What do you guys think. I'm just looking for a project for a possible swap.

I stopped and looked at it today. Didn't even bother looking at the miles. The guy was a jerk, and the interior was trashed. The outside of the car looked pretty decent. I'll just keep looking. Thanks

Just a side note. If it only runs for a few seconds every time you try to start it its probably the circuit opening relay. Not sure if the GS has one but every other Toyota does and when they go bad it causes the fuel pump to run for a bit then shut off. If you short terminals FP and B+ in the diagnostic port it should run all the time but that's s temporary fix.

Interesting.... Maybe I'll go back and look at it. A paper clip should do the trick, right?

Keep looking. If you are planning on doing a 2JZTT conversion and your state requires emissions I suggest you get a 95' or older (OBD1). Easier to pass emissions (roller test, no ECU check).

No testing here in Florida, and I was thinking of just doing a NA-T setup to start with.

I haven't made it back over there to look at it. Been pretty busy with work and playing with the LS. After looking at other cars online, I'm sure I can find something for around the same price in better condition.
