Anyone else notice but me. The only time the alarm goes off(makes noise) is when it is activated and
1. you try to open the door from the inside.
2. you open the hood.
3. you open the trunk.
i don't think that is good enough. i mean i could be parked in a parking structure and it is shaking and it still won't go off. or a big hugh garbage truck can go by and all the other cars go off but mine. i mean someone can break my window and climb inside and steal all my britney spears cd and the alarm won't go off(joke)
The only time it self locks
1. when you press unlock but don't open the door in 1 min it locks itself again
2. and i think thats the only time
I think this is a good idea can someone add to this list
This is a cool one that everyone probly knows that i really like. this tells me that my alarm is activated but only is good during the night. when you get out of your car the light inside stays on until you press lock.
Few questions
1. Is there any way to make our factory alarm beep so we know its activated or deactived istead of that silent click that you can barely hear.
2. Is there any way to make our alarm flash our headlight or something when we turn it on and off.
3. Anyone else think the horn alarm sounds ghey.???
"Horn" alarms. Do you mean when the horn beeps as you arm and disarm it? Or just when it goes off?
I like the ones where the horn honks at like 30% volume (or at least REALLY fast) as the alarm is armed/disarmed, but when it does a full-on HONK that's usually too loud, especially in parking garages.
I wish the parking lights came on when we armed our alarms. I never know if I've done it or not. I would like to incorperate an aftermarket alarm into my factory one like some others have done on this board. That's probably the way to go. I don't really know anything about alarms, though.
Does anyone know how to stop the momentary horn beep when I lock or unlock the door??? I leave for work at 5:20 Am and I have to "beep" the horn if I use the remote door unlock?? I'm g for my neighbor to say something.... My son's 94 gs300 does not make a beep.

I know what you mean. There were so many times when I can't tell if I locked the door or not (didn't hear the click sound). So I end up having to pull on the handle just to double check. Now I always double check no matter if I hear the click or not.

what kind of car do you have?? are you saying your horn beeps when you use the remote on the key??
Yes, Jmai..... everytime I lock or unlock my 93 GS300 using the remote, my horn beeps.... it sounds like you are saying this is not standard operation for this car. I prefer to not have it beep at me. My son's 94 GS300 does not beep.

Hmmmm......my horn doesn't beep when I lock/unlock my car. This is very interesting! Maybe there is a way to control this.
Marcus, the alarm that you have is tricked out.
Our cars are not supposed to make any sound,
when you lock/unlock them.
I would like however to know, how does your alarm
work this way, so I can make my car make sounds too.
Jmai, I don't say try it, but the alarm goes off, when you
hit any of your windows hard. My friend has a 1993 GS3.
He locked his one and only key in the car. Did not have a
phone close by, so we had to brake the window. The alarm
did go off, befor we even broke the window.
1. when your alarm is ON and your window is down and you try to stick your hand in and unlock it it will not let you. it will stay in the lock position and will not move to the unlock position. i found this out when i left my car keys in my car and had my window down about 3 inches. LOL.
Jmai... I use the factory remote control key... that is the only one I have. Rover... the car had an after market alarm system on it which I gutted sometime ago. One time when I really "got on it", smoke rolled up from underneath the dash ... it really scared me, I thought I ruined the car. When I took the cover off under the steering wheel, I saw the after market alarm box and motion detector... and a hugh blown and melted fuse (thus the smoke). I gutted every thing I could see and bypassed the relay which cuts the starter. I thought I removed everthing that was aftermarket, but maybe I did not, that might explain why my horn beeps everytime I use the Factory remote control key... Gee sounds like some people apparently want to "beep" ? ! ?
i have a 90 ls that had a factory alarm but i replaced it with a auto start and remote trunk alarm with air horns. so when my alarm goes off the whole block hears it. There is a chip that sells at any local auto store for $10 and they can add it on for the beep.
i have a '96 gs3 with the factory alarm... when i lock or unlock (arm or disarm) using my button on my key, there's a faint high pitched beep. it beeps once meaning it's armed, and twice when it's disarmed. that's all it does though (aside from locking and unlocking the doors), no flashing lights or honking...
