Default tanabe drop...alignment

i have got 95 GS300 touring and i plan on doing this drop next month maybe, DF210s and KYBs. i work at Lexus so doing it and the alignment wont be a problem at all, as far as work wise. but im afriad the drop will give me too much neg. camber, even after an alignment, im on 215-55-17 (off an ES350). so my questions are:

what are all my options to get the alignment into spec-ish?

are there aftermarket options, like camber bolts or adjustable control arms (i heard there are ones for supras, would they work on the 1st gen GS?)

or i might have to bend the control arms...which i really dont wanna do. im pretty sure it would weaken the metal.

hey there, i've got a 95 GS3 also and i'm on the df210s and kybs. After install and alignment I still had -2 degrees of camber on each wheel, but all my other specs were ok (cross camber, toe, etc.)

I haven't done anything about it and yes you do wear on the inside of the tires cause of the camber. There is an option for rear camber bolts made for our vehicles but I haven't actually seen anyone use them yet. As to the front, there is no camber kit currently made for our vehicles, but someone found out recently that 2nd gen GS control arms are the same, so you could get adjustable upper control arms for a 2nd gen GS and it 'should' work but again, haven't seen anyone do it that I can think of.

That is a pricy option though. If you search the forum for 'upper control arms' you should find the thread and some products you can buy.

Some people here have bent control arms to adjust up to -4 degrees of camber or something absurd but I too wouldn't wanna do that and risk compromising structural integrity.

hope that helps, good luck and let us know what you chose

I am on KYBs and Tanabe DF210s. I found a great alignment shop called Clark's House of Suspension and they were able to get my camber adjusted to within factory specs. If you find a great shop that really knows these cars and knows what they're doing, you can get it there. Be aware that these cars still eat front tires when they're within spec. Mine are wearing pretty well for now, though.

Normal adjustment, but they were able to do more than previous alignment shops I've been to. The guy knew the 1GS well.

I do have to say that after running 'low' for the last 2 years, tires have become a pain in the as5.... really really annoying to have to change the tires every 6 months because of excessive wear on the inside, even when i had tanabe springs....

As far as the front control arms, i'll be braking my piggy bank to aquire them (aiming to get Ikeya Formula since they are so pretty)... believe be, after spemding almost 3K in tires for the last 2 years and investment of 700 is not too bad. I have the rear camber adjustment bolt but i haven't installed. i am waiting to have the front arms and do an all around alignment.

sorry to bring this from da dead but i just flipped my tires today cause of the wear from the inside of my tires?... i have been rotating from back to front and front to back, but they are in need of a flip to get a lil more life out of them...

P.S. it was just brought to my attention that it could be out of spec cause i had the alignment done before i added spacers, and my 18's....(Thanks jhill20)

prob going to go and get my alignment rechecked....

Called the shop and spoke to the owner. They simply do want the car will allow them to do. So, there is nothing special done to get the camber within spec.

Yeah, I think they're just better at making the adjustments because suspension work is what they do. No other shop was able to get it within spec, but Clark's did.

I really like how helpful this so I wont go off and go crazy with money I save just to waste it constantly on replacements and aftermarkets that wont work or fit.
