Default DDM HID problem

What the frack?!?!?!

My DDM 9006 HIDs arrived today. Took a before pic against the garage door in the freezing cold and then set to the quick task of tossing them in. Installed the drivers side bulb and ballast. Held my breath and turned on the lights. Nothing. Wat?

Pulled the power supply at the ballast and checked it with the car off. 11.6V. Hmmm? Maybe the car needs to be running (I would hope not). Started the car. Nothing. Check voltage at ballast. 13.6V. Hmmm? Bad ballast? Bad bulb?

Swapped ballast. Nothing. Swapped bulb. Nothing. All 4 combinations gave me zilch. Ballast said it should output 85V. I was reading 125mV. What gives?

so take the wires that carrys the 12v to the ballast and swap them and it will work fine.

How do I do that? I got the retainer ring off the connector back, but the pins themselves feel pretty solid still. I removed one of the rubber boots, but still cannot get the pin out?

Thats a quality control issue, if you paid for you item and it doesnt work you should not have to pul the wires out and switch them around.

Very, very poor quality control. Have them send you a new kit.

Also how long did it take you to receive the kit from them?

Not quality control so much as it is a design issue. I am certain this is not an accident, thus a new kit isn't going to help. It took about 7-8 days to get here.

you have to stick like a paper clip in the front side of the connector to push down the tab that holds them in and the wire should pull out from the back.

Got it. They work. If DDM wanted to make this TRULY plug-and-play, they should include an adapter that switched polarity in case the factory configuration does not work. This can't be the only car that this is a problem for.

How do you plan on fixing these hot spots with the HID bulbs?

you dont fix them. its just SO much easier to keep the stock headlamp then to bake it and tear it apart and break it down and retro-fit an rx330 projector in there lol.

we deal with it.
