Default starting problems.

Who knows whats going on here? lets start. The problems started when it started raining. When I would start the car it would struggle, the battery light would come on, so I would turn it off and restart, usually that solved the problem and the car would drive fine.

Today I go to start the car and usual thing happens, battery light turns on, i turn off and TRY to restart. it starts, this time the Battery light and ABS light are on, I restart again. This time the ABS + Battery + and idling problem it fluctuates from 1500 RPM to 2500. i turn it off. I say screw it and try to drive, I get to rolling and when i step on the brakes, my HID's die, i bring to a curb and car dies out. doesnt start. I get a new battery but still wont start without a jump. after that its fine. I drive with the battery light on for awhile then it goes away.

my bro says its my HID's (aftermarket) are draining my battery or my alternator, or just an old battery.

anyone chime in. hopefully it doesnt cost alot to fix

to anyone who has useful info

Its the alternator. what else do you have on? i have the same problem. At idling or rolling, the alternator isn't generating enough power throughout the entire car. At stop and go traffic, I had my lows and fogs HIDs on while i blast the AC/heater, and the radio. the battery light went on and everything shut off for a second. Turns out it was the alternator. i haven't fix the problem yet. Right now, im trying not to use that much devices at idling/rolling.

I'll probably pick up a used one from here or supraforums for like 40 bucks.

i wouldn't trust a used one, specially if your going through the hassle of putting it in/paying someone labour to put it in, cause you dont' know how long it'll last,

i'd rather get it rebuilt/buy a new one, shouldn't be to much for you guys should it?

pretty simple swap if you want to attempt it yourself.* I've had mine out a few times now due to alternator problems.* Distributor o-ring was bad when I bought the vehicle and it had leaked all over the alternator.* About 2 months after buying it the battery light came on and the alternator wasn't pushing enough.* Took it off and removed the brushes and ran it through the hotsy and cleaned it out really well.* Worked fine for about 6 months and then battery light came on again.* I put a voltage regulator in it out of a Sienna alternator and worked fine for another 6 months.* After it went out again I finally put a junkyard one in and has worked fine ever since. Remove the serp belt and disconnect the battery, remove the connectors on the alternator and remove the one bolt and one nut ( if my memory serves me correct) and simply slide the alternator off.

i picked one up for 40 from someone on here who had an SC. the plugs were different so i just swapped out the backs. the alt works fine now, changed out the tensioner pulley assembly for a new one for 98 bucks while i had the front tore down.

1. take off the serpentine belt, use 6 sided 14mm on the pulley bolt, clockwise.
2. once belt if off head towards the alternator, remove the plugs.
3. theres a bolt on the top side which you can reach on the top, then you gotta go under the car and get the second underneath. once those are out it should come right off.

thats about it. I just ran into some problems because my tensioner pulley bolt broke and the bottom alternator screw was stripped. I reccommend using a 6 sided socket for everything, i never stripped a bolt with those.
