I recommend getting your questions answered directly by the pro's.

Here's a link to the one I have installed.

http://www.spracingonline.com/defaul...category_id=47

Also, see for more technical details
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sea...archid=1810266

There's a lot of great information on both CL and SF.. I've found 90% of my questions answered in either forums.

Good luck

All GS's have open diff's? Great. Has anyone ever looked into seeing if a AT supra or LS400 LSD could be swapped into the 1st gen?

The supra diff will fit, but people also use the TRD as discussed earlier

the Rear end that Abear posted up off of Fleebay do you use just the internals from the pumkin or did that whole unit bolt in! Might be a silly question but iv never really even looked under there at the rear end!

Default my experience and hope this doesn't confuse you.

the TRD LSD comes in two flavors, one is for the AT and the other is for the 6sp MT.

The TRD LSD for the AT and the bearing are the same internals used on the MKIV TT/AT.

What you will find on the forum either CL or SF and or dealers is that they do not want to be liable for telling you if the 1st Gen pumpkin and the MKIV AT pumpkin is the same. I myself won't tell you this for the same reason.

So, depending on your issue, if you're going replace just the internals with a TRD LSD AT the USDM pumpkin will fit !

Here's something interesting and anyone who has purchased a complete JDM ARISTO rear assembly chime in and share your findings. I'm courious what you encoutered.

Here's mine and its kind of confusing...

Remember this, the pumpkin for the USDM and JDM/ARISTO is identical with the exception of the drive shaft flange bolt pattern.

Now, here's what I personally experinced when I was doing the swap with the OE USDM Diff assembly with the JDM diff with the OE torsen LSD...

If you replace the USDM open diff "OR" the JDM torsen LSD with a TRD LSD AT. it will fit.

However one unusually thing I later experienced.... the JDM rear diff assembly looked almost new so I figured I would use the rear drive axles. So I popped out the two USDM axles and decided to use the JDM axles and soon realized the JDM/ARISTO wheel axles were shorter than the USDM axles!
I looked at MKIV axles sets and the JDM Aristo axles set matched one of the MKIV. I have no clue which year used the shorter axles.

Here's my suggestion, visit SF and locate the two toyota dealers. The question to ask is..

Did the MKIV TT w/AT come with different rear diff assemblies? What you want to find out is the dementions of the pumpkin specfically width and lenght.

If the above answer is yes the next question is...
Are there different driveshaft flanges ? What you want to findout is whether there were differnt bolt patterns and if so, how many and how does one distinguish the correct part?

Hope I didn't confuse you, just send me a PM to exchange contact numbers.
