@dtaylor, while I'd love to just tell you to google it, this is a wireless router, just like a linksys or d-link, etc. I have the time capsule, which is that same as this but has the built in hard drive. Thing works great, setup is easy because it sets up in Air Port Utility if you have a mac, also it has a USB port where you could plug in a Hard drive and set up time capsule, greatest thing ever, your mac will automatically backup your hard drive every hour.

Yes, it is a Wireless router. It work great, it is much better than any wireless router I ever used (Netgear, D-link, Belkin,...). Remember it work for PC network as well as Mac.
