Hi, i once had my head units HDD die in my 07 ls460l and fixed it by replacing the whole head unit. It wasnt the hardest thing but i was wondering if this is a common problem or a fluke? I did read lately in the manual to wait 6 min after powering the car down before disconnecting the negative terminal. I know i never did that in the past. Is it possible thats what lead to the Hard Drive failure in my old head unit? Im only asking because any time i disconect my cars battery i cross my fingers when the head unit needs to load back up lol. I bought an obd2 backfeeder for battery swaps but i dont think its a good idea to use it during repairs right?

Replaced the 19" F-Sport LS BBS made Rims and put back the 19" 5-Spoke Sport rims on my 2010 LS460L. But now time for new tires before I swap out the eye watering cost of fixing the Air ride for Coil Overs.

I'm thinking of going from 245/45R19's to 255/45 19's. Just plus sizing a little. Anybody running this size, 255/45 19, have any issues with rubbing or other problems?

I plan to keep the ride height pretty much stock.

I ran through the sticky posts and such but its mostly people changing rim sizes... I'm concerned with tire size choices on this OEM 19" Rim.

Hi all, I just got my car back after 6 weeks of it being at the shop getting a full aftermarket air system installed. It's flashing the 'Height High' light, the triangle (!) error light is constantly on and the small lcd screen above the steering wheels is telling me to get
the air suspension system checked out by a dealer. How do I get rid of all these things? Pull some fuses?
The shop that installed the system just took out all the old struts and ran new lines, and as far as I know they didn't remove anything else from the factory air system like the compressor or the height sensors.

Having an F-Sport ride like a non F-Sport

So I want the paddle shifters, look, and headliner that the F-Sport provides, but I'd rather have the soft ride quality of the non-sport.

1) Is there a simple change, like a re-programming that can be done that will make the F-Sport ride like a non-sport?
2) Is the comfort mode soft enough on an F-Sport that it is similar to the 'normal' mode in a non-F-sport? I saw one comment in a thread saying the F-Sport in Comfort was similar to the non-F air suspension in normal

It's hard to find F-Sports to test drive in my area, it's always far from me and then I can't give the car a test on the horrific roads in my area. Ideally I would test the car on some of the common roads I drive to be sure it's the super cushy ride I'm looking for.

What do you guys think? I thought of buying a non-F and adding the paddle shift wheel (and then it would need programming), but the thread I started about that didn't have anyone who had done that on the LS460 so it's just an idea. And honestly I really like the headliner and some other things on an F so just softening up the F a bit would be perfect.

Has anyone tried softening up the F-Sport, or would it even be necessary if you put it in Comfort? I would size the wheels down to 18" to ensure more comfort.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have a issue with my Lexus and need help, I am currently in between jobs so my income is limited or else I would have just taken my car to the shop.
So here goes nothing ...... Here's my problem:
I replaced my neutral safety switch and now My whole dash isn't powering on. When I replaced the switch it worked for two days then the power steering started To become hard to steer, and the transmission started shifting hard. I tested the battery and it's regular voltage. My buddy went down to the switch and "worked" on it and now it doesn't work I think he didn't take off the negative terminal and may have blown a main fuse or something? the radio doesn't illuminate, not any of the regular lights that usually work it's completely dud. But the interior lights work, the seats slide back and forth, the trunk opens but the whole main dash where my steering wheel is doesn't work. Not even a click of the button nothing the steering doesn't tilt, no dash lights the push button usually has either a orange or green light there's nothing. Can someone guide me on what it could possibly be?

Hi all,
Hoping to tap into the collective knowledge on a multi-system issue with my 2007 LS460L. The symptoms span several independent modules but feel like they're converging on a shared root cause (voltage/ground or gateway ECU), and I'd like to validate before throwing parts at it.
Vehicle

2007 Lexus LS460L

Ottoman / Executive package

4.6L

Mileage: 100K

What I've already done

Tracked down a degraded non-AGM battery + parasitic drain as the original electrical gremlin source

Replaced with a proper spec AGM battery

Cleaned battery terminals

Some symptoms improved, but multi-module faults still appear intermittently

Current symptoms (intermittent — a 10-min drive can be clean, the next one shows the codes again)

"Check AFS" warning

"Check Tire Pressure" warning

Fuel level gauge not displaying

Outside ambient temperature not displaying

A/C: blower runs fine but compressor never engages (no cooling)

Turn signal activation is noticeably delayed (lag before they start blinking)

Horn response is delayed

Front passenger seat (Ottoman walk-in function): a beep on every adjustment; the auto-fold headrest no longer triggers when reclining the seat forward. Manual headrest up/down still works.

DTC codes pulled

U0209 — Lost Communication with Seat Control Module B

B1419, B1424, B1468 — HVAC ECU "internal fault" (three separate internal faults from the same module)

B1421 — CD player operation fault

B1428 — Right-hand side satellite *1 line fault

Note: I used a generic OBD scanner app, and some of the B-code labels look like they're rendering VW/Audi-style descriptions rather than Lexus-specific ones, so I'd take the text descriptions with a grain of salt. I plan to verify with Techstream when I can.
My current hypothesis
The pattern — multiple independent modules reporting internal faults + communication losses + intermittent behavior tied to driving conditions — points at a shared root cause rather than five simultaneous module failures. Two candidates:

Marginal voltage or ground delivery to the multiplex bus. Even with a fresh AGM, if a body ground point or main harness terminal has corrosion, modules see brownout-level voltage and report internal faults / drop off CAN. The slow turn signals and delayed horn especially feel like a ground/voltage issue, since those run through the body ECU and depend on a clean ground path.

Gateway ECU / Main Body ECU developing intermittent issues — capacitor aging on a 19-year-old vehicle is plausible.

What I plan to do next

Voltage drop test across main battery cables (engine running, loads on) — both (+) and (-) sides

Inspect and clean all major ground points (engine-to-chassis, battery (-) to chassis, body grounds)

Measure AC ripple at the battery (alternator diode check)

Reconfirm parasitic drain is fully resolved (<50 mA after sleep)

Run a full Techstream scan to get Lexus-specific code descriptions

If all of the above is clean — investigate the Network Gateway ECU as a potential failing unit

Questions for the community

Has anyone seen this exact symptom cluster on a 1st-gen LS460? Was it a single failed module or a ground/voltage root cause?

Are there known weak ground points on the LS460 that age into issues like this? Specific bolt locations would be hugely helpful.

Is the Network Gateway ECU a known weak point on 1st-gen LS460s? Has anyone had one rebuilt (capacitor refresh) vs. replaced outright?

Is there an LS460-specific diagnostic that cleanly distinguishes "marginal voltage causing modules to misbehave" from "gateway ECU truly failing"?

On the front passenger Ottoman walk-in headrest fold function specifically — is there a known sensor or actuator that ages into intermittent failure, independent of the bus issue?

Happy to add mileage, service history, photos of the dash warnings, full scan reports — whatever helps narrow it down. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Hi Everyone,

Today I bought a damaged Lexus LS460. It is my second car; my previous car was a Mazda RX-8, which I rebuilt and tuned myself.

One of the issues with the Lexus is the audio system. The 30A fuses on both the passenger and driver sides are intact (continuity), but the only speaker producing sound is the centre dash speaker. Even then, the audio is crackly and distorted to the point where you cannot recognise what is playing.

Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea what could cause it?

I have not inspected the amplifier too closely yet, but there are no obvious signs of corrosion, water damage, or grime around it.

Also Apologies if there is a similar thread I am missing.

Thanks in advance,
Ryder

Haven changed my steering rack, pinion, and EPS module brand new from Lexus, I did the calibration, yet my 2014 Lexus LS 460 steering is still heavy. What else can I do? Helpful suggestion, please.
