Onto the next...

As some of you are aware, my new Model S plaid was destroyed by a red light runner! :(

I'm still recovering from the accident, but I need to start planning out for my next car quickly, as I can't stand my Camry rental (first world problems!).

The logical choice would be to get another Model S Plaid: I loved mine with the only regret being the yoke (which can now be order with a traditional wheel). Tesla has also added a few things included new calipers to sweeten the pot.

However, part of me wants something new (again), so I've been deliberating a Model X Plaid. It's bigger, more family friendly, and has better residual then the S. But it's also slower, feels more like a van, is less reliable (more complex), and not as "moddable".

Price wise, they are now $5k within another so price is a non factor. Which one do you think i should i get and why?

model x is my fave tesla. if it didn't have so many reported gremlins, i'd probably have one. but a plaid x? oh man... :woot:

I’m more of a fan of the looks of the S and I like driving sedans more than SUVs even though the X isn’t too large.

If you don't need extra space, Model S is faster, quieter, drives better, etc, etc.

X is more cool with its wing doors, auto opening of front doors, two seats in the back, etc.

S, quite simply the best looking Tesla.

All I know about the X is that its built like a tank. Saw the aftermath of a wreck before and it sent the other car into a tree lol.

not sure if it's built like a tank but it weighs like one. :D

why is S quieter do you think? just more aerodynamic? i think both have a lot more sound deadening than 3/Y.

were you leasing the S plaid? if so, how does that work on total loss, does insurance leave you whole?

more importantly, how are you feeling, and will you be suing the other driver, at least for medical costs? although perhaps their insurance pays that.

My MIL is on her second X and while she likes it overall, she is not a fan of the falcon wing doors. Her older one (2018?) has hit the ceiling of her garage a couple of times although I haven't heard her say anything about it in her 2022.

I believe the X tboned the other vehicle. The X suffered some damage but looked driveable. The other car was laying on its side after being thrown in a tree. Put two and two together and thats why I think theyre built like tanks.

Model X plaid with a normal steering wheel would be my choice.

AMIRZA786 Jan 30, 2023 07:58 AM

Model X! Yes it's bigger and slower, but it's more spacious and has cool wings. You'll get more for your money IMHO

JDR76 Jan 30, 2023 07:58 AM

Not personally a fan of the X. To me, the S is beautiful and will age very well.
