Default article on abysmal new model S 'quality'

one owner found their car full of mold after the returned from a business trip.
another person bought a plaid that had so many awful problems they refused it.

saw that moldy model s making the internet rounds, as people pointed out he must've just had the car detailed and the interior was still wet when it was parked with the windows up

still... i wonder how other cars would fare... at the very least this shows that tesla windows seal up well lol

yes, the moldy s might have a 'reason', but what about that new plaid with major major damage and defects?

could also be the ac hose that drains onto the battery pack.

Even if the doors are sealed, isn't there other openings, like through AC systems? Something is not right here because people park cars for days/weeks at the airports all the times. In any case, I had a conversation with an X5 owner. He ordered a Model Y along with his X5. His X5 came first but because the market, he also took the Tesla to make quick bucks. I thought he got it to replace his X5 but it turned out not. He said the build quality wasn't quite there for him to accept over the X5..

patgilm would be uniquely qualified to respond in this thread. He's got a Plaid and from quick memory he hasn't had glowing things to say about fit/finish.

wouldn't anyone with a model s be just as qualified to comment? these aren't plaid specific issues

He called that moldy car a "brand new model s" that was left in the garage for a month. That's not the new model. At least a 2020, if not older.

Friend of mine picked up her Model S long range on Monday, quality seems quite good to me.

For some reason I call B.S. on the authenticity of the Tesla S from that owner

Hmmmmmmmmm
Either this is "user error" and the owners screwed up bad and didn't notice they had trapped water in the car or a mfg defect.

I'd say it could be mfg defect on a new car but that would have to depend on the failure and proven unless I know the character of the person making the claims.
Like mentioned, if someone shampoo'd the rugs wet and then parked the car for a month, that's their problem and their fault and nobody else's. oooops stuff happens.

But, on an older car this kinda stuff happens, many roof leaks, etc reported in the forum on older cars as they age.

This will need a strong detail $$$.

That would probably kill me on contact after my history of mold damage lol!

If it were my car I would ditch the entire interior if I even dared to try and save it. Personally I don't think I would be able to risk it.....

Yeah, that's a pre-refresh model so it's at least 2 years old.

I get that a lot of people hate Tesla but going through the effort to make crap up like this is just pathetic.

Mould = User error. Cars don’t leave the factory like that.

But the build quality on that Model S is worse than a prototype car lol.
