I see no reason to spend $12k-15k for FSD. I’ve read enough on the Tesla forums not to waste my money for a half baked feature only to be a test car dummy for them. Secondly I also noticed this part of the article:
“Owners must obtain a high driver-safety score, as determined by Tesla software that monitors their driving habits, and maintain it to get FSD Beta access.” Based on those parameters there is zero chance I would actually qualify to get the Beta version. With that being said, Autopilot is good enough for me and although it has many faults it’s still pretty darn good and steers relatively well. I think it steers much better than my BMW but overall isn’t as good as my BMW. Also, the X7 is getting a new feature that allows hands free up to 85mph where it was previously limited to 40mph I wonder how much better the BMW will be. |

It is a recall, because it's been made as part of a NHTSA safety defect determination..
Correct. If the NHTSA says it's a recall, it's a recall......no matter what the reason or issues involved. |

yeah but that requirement in the beginning should have been a huge alarm to people. if fsd works, there shouldn't be such requirement

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...52c55d7b3b.jpg Tesla is preparing to launch its new Autopilot hardware 4.0 upgrade, according to a filing with European regulators. The automaker is expected to announce a new Autopilot/Self-Driving hardware suite, which has been referred to as Hardware 4.0 (HW4), any day now. There have been quite a few indications that some major changes are coming. For example, after famously removing radar sensors from its hardware suite, we learned in December that Tesla is planning to add one as soon as this month. Additionally, we also reported on a Tesla Model 3 prototype that potentially featured a new Autopilot/Full Self-Driving hardware suite. A report coming out of China also showed that Tesla applied with regulators for some modifications to its vehicles, including new Autopilot cameras. Now Tesla has done the same in Europe where it files for changes to its vehicles with regulators in the Netherlands. The Tesla forum TFF has a neat tracker to follow all the changes that the automaker applies for with the regulator, and it revealed a new application for Model S and Model X with a significant list of changes:
With Tesla now applying with regulators, it is fair to expect the launch of the new hardware to be imminent. CEO Elon Musk recently commented on the introduction of Hardware 4.0, and while he didn’t release any details about the upgrade or its timing, he did confirm that Tesla doesn’t plan to offer retrofits for older models. Interestingly, more changes are being introduced at the same time, including a new drive inverter, though more details are not available. Also, this is the new rear badging for those who are curious: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...020c010196.jpg The new top speed appears to be linked to the Plaid models, which have yet to deliver on Tesla’s original top speed promises when first announcing its new top-of-the-line models. The automaker has been software limiting the top speed until it can release its carbon ceramic brake kit to improve braking performance and make that insane top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph) safer. As we previously reported, a Tesla Model S Plaid owner already managed to beat that top speed by unlocking the speed limiter in Tesla’s software. https://electrek.co/2023/02/13/tesla...e-4-0-upgrade/ |
Had a heating/cooling system fault in my Tesla so I have to take it in for service today. I haven’t had the best luck with Tesla service so wish me luck!

It actually works pretty well for a beta. I know several people who have it. They use it on trips and sometimes in stop and go traffic. Tesla has been collecting data for years
Overall, it’s super cool to play with and try out but we didn’t think it was worth paying for in its current stage and I don’t feel like the other features you get in the package were very good either. Self parking wasn’t the best. It doesn’t work perfectly every time like it did in my mom’s old 2013 Ford Focus. That had the best parallel parking system I’ve used to this day. Summon and Smart Summon are cool, but a little gimicky, Smart Summon is borderline dangerous. Day to day driving with it became annoying. It’s a much simpler and calmer drive without it. It was extremely annoying. Constantly wanting to change lanes for no reason and having to tap the screen to cancel. Taking way too long to slow down for speed limit changes. It required way too much intervention. I’m talking like once a minute. Basic autopilot is flawless, doesn’t need any inputs from me, works as expected and not like beta software, and best part is it’s free with the car. I enjoy the car much more now that we got rid of the FSD subscription.

Oh no! Hope it goes well! We had a service appointment recently and it went really well for us. I received better treatment and service than I ever have at Lexus or elsewhere. We were so impressed. And the fact that it’s all done through the app. No other OEMs can compare with that aspect of Tesla service.
Service center kind of sucks since it’s it one room and there are no private rooms to do work call and I have about 3 of them today so that will be kind of weird. My Lexus and BMW dealer had private rooms. |

So far so good, at least the service person was nice and my car was actually pulled in for service relatively quickly. The only thing I don’t like is that he said it’s a big job and can be 4-6 hours and I got $100 of rideshare credits but that only covers to and from the service center since it is $50 each way so I am basically waiting here and hopefully it will be done sooner. If it was gong to be that long I would have hoped for a loaner.

Just hop in a Model S or X in the showroom and make that your private office :D
Well they have to take out my dashboard to see what is wrong. Now I just hope they put it all back together correctly. I was hoping it wasn't a big deal but it looks like it is. I see you got your Plaid and you decided against the Model S Plaid and opted for the X, nice. You need to do a write up on it. |
