Those numbers for Lexus not not released publicly, hence the argument. But for Ferrari, this article quotes $94,000 per car.

Ferrari's operating margin seems to be at 18%, is that right? Can't seem to find reliable info, seems like it should be higher.

(Edited my off topic stuff).

I do see a conundrum....
Ok, for people who have Tesla stock I can see wanting Tesla to make max profit per car. :dance2:
However, for people who are buying the cars that are not invested in Tesla stock, they of course want to see them make the least profit and the best deal for themselves. :agreed:

In a perfect world, everyone wins but I don't see a car buyer caring about Tesla's profits. lol

Some don't publish so listed at 0%. However Ferrari has consistently been doing well in margins.

To be absolutely and brutally honest with you, I don't really care about their profits margins either, especially as a future customer. On the other hand as a stock holder, I do. There lies the conundrum for me

Are you in Europe, or the Midwest?

Midwest. Hardware 4.0 was just approved for Model S and Model X in Europe and should start shipping with it soon. I'm waiting to hear news that Model X in the US has begun shipping with hardware 4.0 before placing an order.

Ah, got it! Look forward to your posting with updates on this :D

18% for Ferrari? That's nothing really, they may need price increases. I know for Porsche, the margin on the 911 is very high.

I am in a similar dilemma ... About to buy my 2nd msp, but the hw3 and a new gen 3 conveyer is coming out. Don't know if I should pick one up yet....

As a quick chime in on this thread, I would like to say that I know I have to be careful about the written word, as it can be misunderstood. I think it is also important to listen to the owners of an EV, or any car, product, whatever. owners have real world experience.
Prospective buyers often as ask me about our car; I give them my pros and cons. The 1st thing I ask them is, "How ya gonna charge?" You might be surprised os some of the answers.
If you want buttons and dials, this car ain't for you. If oyu want leather interior and Lexus build quality, well, perhaps don't cross shop Tesla.
If you regularly drive more than 200 miles in a day, you might be pushing it, especially with the lower range cars.
Plus, these cars are expensive. No one needs a Tesla, Bimmer, Vette, Bro-Dozer, you name it. A little expensive now, but still...

Regarding range anxiety; it is real. These cars are different. But you learn. Starting out everyday with a full charge is amazing. If I could not charge at home I would not own one.
These cars are a blast to drive. I feel they are more quick than fast, with their right now torque curve. No lag, no (power robbing) transmission figuring what gear, etc.
It is not the 0 to 60 stuff, rather it is the merging, one pedal driving and quick, flat steering. Amazing driver's cars.

Anyway, each to their own. If you like futuristic stuff, you just might like a Tesla, warts and all.

It happened again. I don't get why GM is doing this they don't have any EV volume it only raised awareness of Tesla.

The drivetrain and screen is all I'm after when it comes to Tesla. I've spent enough time with my brother in laws Model 3 to know that I absolutely love it, defects and all. Just like my wife. Just kidding, she has ZERO defects (at least that's what I tell her :D)

That dude is great on Toyota products but he gives me a serious sour grapes vibe in that video, like he knows his purpose is coming to an end. I can understand how he feels.

Is the Toyota mechanic that has a video showing what 10k oil changes does to engines?
