I'm ready for their IPO! Rivian accomplished a lot in 3 years to produce this compelling product

The front looks really goofy especially for a truck.

Do they have plans for their own charging network like Tesla?

The valuation is looking like it might be crazy high, might be enough to scare me off.

They'll be adding to the existing CCS network with their Rivian Waypoint chargers. They're open to the public. They're not planning a comprehensive Rivian-only network like Tesla.

EDIT: Oops- forgot about the Rivian-exclusive Adventure chargers.

They do have a plan for their Adventure network, some 3,500+ DC Fast Chargers Exclusive for Rivian owners across 600+ sites over the next two years, as well as providing 10,000 Level 2 "Waypoint" that will be open [likely not free though] to the public with standard J1772 plugs

I love these things. If I were going to get an electric truck, this is what I would get.

At least this EV truck looks normal unlike the other truck with sharp edges that will kill someone instantly.

If you plan to use this as a "lifestyle" or overlanding truck I think this has some useful advantages over a Lightning. I must say, this is the type of vehicle that makes me second guess my Hummer reservation. We'll see how the ownership experience goes since the one major downside in my eyes is all of the hassle that accompanies buying from a startup.

I see they are producing it in Normal, IL......(apparently) at the old (but refurbished) Diamond-Star plant that Chrysler and Mitsubishi once used. I hope they run that plant better than Mitsubishi did.......it was one horror story at that place after after another, from serious QC problems to racism, sexism, age-discrimination, labor issues, harassment of employees, and a number of other things. In fact, as I recall, some Mitsubishi executives went to prison for it.

The Rivian Normal, IL plant has been welcomed by the central Illinois Bloomington-Normal area. I read that the refurbished Mitsubishi plant will employ 1,800-2,500 and another plant is planned in Texas.

The Rivian ownership and operation of the factory has absolutely nothing to do with Chrysler/Mitsubishi, so there's really no need to inject that element into this thread.
