Yep, Rivian is exactly the same, you order online and pick up on the appointment they give you. They may have some inventory such as Demos and customers that changed their minds, but majority will be already sold

Hmm. I don't know where the nearest Rivian dealer is.

Rivian went down 36%?
Startups seems to be facing tough times, but on the flipside legacy is moving the proverbial electron powered metal. Triple digit sales growth.

That's awesome 👍. I have to say, I'm especially surprised with GM. They seem to be anchors up and full steam ahead

Sales drop reflects updated guidance and they actually beat their provided estimates. They're still on track for the ~50K vehicles this year and I don't see them bumping R1 production numbers so they can launch R2
Rivian is ramping up production in the first few quarters because they're planning on shutting the plant down later to setup for the quad motors + R2 line start. Produced vs. sold numbers will look bad.

The way math works, there is literally more of them on the roads than last quarter.
But generally to achieve real growth, they need new models. Politics aside, they will be stuck around 2m/yr no matter how good Y does

I agree, spwolf. A smaller rest-of-world sized Model 2 and/or a more traditional Rivian-like SUV to replace Model X would deliver growth.

I'm starting to see more and more of the new Model Y Launch editions (two just this morning). But I really don't care much for the light bar in the back...at least in the daytime. It gives out a Lexus vibe

I actually really like the lightbar in the back. Giving out a Lexus vibe is not a bad thing

It should be giving out a Tesla vibe
. No it's not a bad thing, but this morning I couldn't tell from a distance if I was behind a UX or a Model Y

it’s quite easy to tell them apart. One of them will have a cartoon ***** crudely spray-painted on the side, and other one is a Lexus UX 😉

Does Rivian have any plans for a Model 3 competitor?

Nope, SUV only, but let's take further Rivian specific talk to the general chat. I didn't notice I was in the Tesla thread in my previous response
