Quote: easily done with a 1-2 yr old ev.
Used offerings aren't the same. Lots of people prefer new cars.

They have a new black in the S now called diamond black which is metallic vs the standard black from prior years. Had I known that I might have waited and gotten that color because the non metallic black is just too hard to keep clean and not show light scratches.

Plenty of sub $30k new cars are sold...people are buying them over better used cars

The point is to drive EV adoption, people who are skittish about an EV are going to be more likely to adopt a new one than a used one.

i don't agree. 🫸🫷

New and used buyers are different.
When someone wants new, they want new.

There are times I wanted new and other times I wanted used.

Never did I seek to buy a new car and settle in a used one.

That's why I think the "just buy a used Tesla" arguement is slightly flawed.

If they make a low cost Tesla they will sell them like hot cakes.

I was wondering about that too.
I haven't bought a new car in a while but buying used was at the disadvantage of higher interest rates, like you said.

No finance deals going on for used.

then the used car buyer has to deal with battery degradation…among other worn items. New car, buyers want new cars because everything is new and the new warranty is there to protect the purchase.

If this is the thinking for Tesla and their future, they don’t have a very good one. (used cars to supply 30K segments)

Higher rates, shorter terms, lower LTV limits...

What Tesla COULD do is sell used cars as "remanufactured" like companies do computers etc. Replace batteries without degradation etc. Offer new car financing and warranty.
