it's all good, but i think your enthusiasm sometimes take you down unrelated avenues or answering questions i didn't ask like telling me it will be better in the future (not helpful now), about what you would experience in california (not really relevant), how after the first time i'll have more confidence (i never had any lack of confidence), etc. i know you were trying to help though and excuse my curt response after the back and forth.
because orlando's huge with loads of charging points?
and i just went on a better route planner, and it recommended getting a (20 min) charge (to 97%!) after just 60 miles at a costco in clermont.
of course. abrp does show i can do it with 1 charge, but i'd only have 10% left at the other end, but that's probably ok.
that does suck though... charging to 97% is going to be dead slow. ABRP also does not really account real charging speeds, so it will be slower than it indicates.
Curiously enough - change the car to Model 3 HL, how does that look for charging?
yeah, terrible position to charge and obviously not good to bend the cable around like that. from the pic not sure why your car could have been 180 degrees around with the charge port on the same side as the charger?
Unfortunately the cable wasn't long enough. It also didn't have the spring loaded extension mechanism that were on the other charging stations. That would have alleviated the problem
i still don't even get the preheating thing... is that only a thing where it's really cold?
The battery pack needs to be a certain temperature for optimal charging speed. Doesn't matter if it's summer or winter. The colder it is, the longer it needs to be preconditioned

still don't follow. if car swapped 180 degrees the charge port is right next to the charger.

No, charging cable wasn't long enough to reach the back of the car, even though I pulled the car as far forward as it would go. I needed about one to two feet more length. Had it had the spring loaded extension cables like it was supposed to have (like Costco gas pumps) it would have reached
Most EA chargers have two charge cables per charger and you either reverse in or go front in depending upon your charge port location. In other words, for a two charger pair in the middle of two adjacent spaces you have four possible orientation permutations. That's one of the good things about EA, they can accommodate almost any charge port location.

This one had a CCS and CHAdeMO. Also the newer ones have a spring loaded extender, but this one didn't, although it was new

ok. that makes sense. Most of them aren't those hybrid chargers. My nearest EA station for example has three or four banks of two CCS chargers and one off to the side that is a hybrid CCS/CHAdeMO. The CCS banks work exactly as described, they can accommodate almost any charge port location. With the other hybrid CCS/CHAdeMO one you would have to park off to one side to make it work in my case, for example, as my port is driver side front.

Exactly. If I had used one of the other chargers (which were taken), I would have either had to back in or drive in forward. BTW, I believe they removed the second charging cable in the new non hybrid chargers and use a spring loaded extender at the top that will allow you to extend the cable at least another foot

i still think i'm not getting my question across or i'm not understanding what you're saying. maybe a lame picture will help.
i'm wondering why you couldn't reverse your car into the same spot which would mean the charging port is on the same side as the charger and the cable will EASILY reach?

I see what you are saying. Can only reverse it this way. Not enough room to back it up towards the charger. It's a small parking spot. If I stepped back and took the picture you would see what I'm talking about.
I could have possibly come from the other side of the curb, but then I would be blocking traffic
